Sangre vs Sang’gre: Encantadia Director Says GMA First To Use Term, Fans React

So Encantadia director Mark Reyes posts a photo on his Instagram about the hit TV show’s term Sang’gre. The photo shows the Kapuso fantaserye in two versions, one in 2005 and one in 2016. This, implying that the show and term has been around for a long time. The post also includes several hashtags claiming the Encantadia legacy to be the first to use the term Sang’gre. Naturally, this sparks the flame between the two shows that use similar terms, La Luna Sangre and Encantadia.

Reyes includes the text “Sang’gre since 2006” and a hashtag saying “We were first duh” in his caption along with an “Excuse us?.”

Sangre Vs. Sang’gre

Sure enough, the post ignites the comparing and contrasting of the two similar terms of the GMA and ABS-CBN shows. With fans of each show claiming the other to be the one in the wrong. According to the Encantadia wiki, the term “Sang’gre” means “Diwata” or royal blood. Meanwhile, for ABS-CBN’s La Luna Sangre, the term “Sangre” is the Spanish translation of “blood.” Making the title series’ direct translation to be “The Blood Moon.”

Fans are quick to jump on director Reyes’ post with the La Luna Sangre fans defending their side. One fan argues that “Sangre” is a real word whereas “Sang’gre” is a word imaginative people made up. Aside from that, fans are contradicting the point of Reyes’ point which is who came up with the term first. But there is a difference between the two, and that is “Sang’gre” is spelled with two g’s as compared to the “Sangre” starring Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.

This is what fans are pointing out as a distinct difference, even going as far as calling Reyes “bitter” for the post. As the shade throwing continues, La Luna Sangre fans even bring into the conversation talks of nationwide ratings. As far as the conflict goes, both sides are calling differences with each other’s terminology but matters still aren’t settled.
