Sarawak, Malaysia

A 42-year old primary school teacher was arrested for allegedly sodomizing a teenage student since he was 12 years old and in primary school. The 14-year old student told another teacher about the abuse which has been going on for two years.

According to Malay Mail Online, the suspect has been brought to the Mukah police headquarters, and the court has ordered a 7-day detention pending an investigation of the case.

Teenager Reports His Ordeal To The Police

The teenager reported his ordeal to the police after he told his teacher, who then accompanied him to the police station. According to initial investigations done by Mukah police, the abuse started when the boy was still 12 years old and in primary school in Kapit, Sarawak.

The teacher reportedly committed the heinous acts in the teachers’ quarters of the school, and in several cheap hotels in town during this time. After the student left primary school, he asked his parents to let him study at a secondary school outside of Kapit.

However, the suspect continued to contact the student and victimize him. From February to May of this year alone, the boy was reportedly abused for 5 times in a cheap hotel in Mukah. Since the abuse started, investigations show that the abuse took place over 50 times.

Suspect Claims It Was Consensual, Child Welfare Department Say It’s Statutory Rape

Indonesian Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Fatimah Abdullah, according to Borneo Post Online, confirmed the case.

After the boy was brought to the hospital, medical examinations showed evidence of abuse. She also said that the teacher did not deny it. However, the teacher was claiming that it was consensual.

Abdullah, however, qualified that because the student was a minor, it is still a case of statutory rape. She also said that it was a “sad case” of a teacher who “breached the trust and broke the confidence and was causing harm to the student.” The police is currently building the case against the teacher and as soon as they have enough evidence, the suspect will be formally charged.
