Sharon Cuneta

Fans of the original love team of Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion got the disappointment of their lives recently. The pair’s reunion movie is longer happening this year, contrary to earlier announcements that it will come out in May 2017.

According to ABS-CBN, Sharon Cuneta confirmed the news, although indirectly via her Facebook account. This came after Gabby Concepcion made a statement about the postponement via showbiz reporter Mario Dumaual.

Gabby Concepcion’s Scheduling Issues

In his statement, Gabby said that he “always wanted to do a movie with Sharon Cuneta.” This time, however, his current commitments and tight schedule are keeping him from doing the movie. He also said that they are exploring how they can do it in 2018. Gabby is currently working on GMA-7’s teleserye Ika-6 Na Utos.

The last movie the pair did together was the 1992 film Tayong Dalawa, which was released one year before their annulment was formalized. The 1980s popular love team were known for movies such as Dear Heart and P.S. I Love You. As a real life couple, they also got married in 1984, had a daughter (KC Concepcion) but eventually separated in 1987.

Sharon Cuneta Apologizes To Fans

The megastar seems to be sure that the news will clearly disappoint fans who have been waiting for their reunion movie. Star Cinema previously announced the movie back in December 2016. Production was supposed to start in January, for a May theater release.

In a Facebook post, she said: “Thanks for all your prayers and I am sorry it’s not pushing through. But please be happy for me — because I am very happy with my new project which Star Cinema is now preparing! God bless us all. Good night and love you guys!” Sharon is also busy with other projects such The Voice Teens slated to start in a few weeks.
