NFL/Facebook As the Patriots celebrate their Super Bowl win, cinema fans celebrate the drop of trailers for highly-anticipated movies and TV shows. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Some people watch the Super Bowl for the sports. Others watch it for the trailers. This year’s Super Bowl delivered a mix of movie and television trailers, from summer blockbusters to highly anticipated season teasers (you know which show we’re talking about). We’ve rounded up all the trailers here for your easy viewing, in order of release date: Super Bowl Movie Trailers ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ – February 10 In a pointed reference to box office rival “Fifty Shades Darker,” also premiering on February 10, “John Wick: Chapter 2” enticed with a mockingly seductive beginning to its trailer that quickly devolved into violence, guns, and action scenes. Who do you think will come out on top this Valentine’s Day weekend? ‘A Cure for Wellness’ – February 17 “Are you tired of not feeling well?” asks the narrator. This creepy trailer begins like a generic commercial endorsing a prescription drug and ends with completely terrifying scenes that send chills up your spine. “A Cure for Wellness” is the answer for fans craving suspense and horror in their lives. ‘Logan’ – March 3 Set to the haunting music of “Amazing Grace,” the trailer for “Logan” gives us another look at this movieverse’s incarnation of the mutant Laura Kinney, or X-23. The trailer also shows clips of Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Stephen Merchant’s Caliban. ‘Life’ – March 24 Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds discover “Life” on Mars – only to find themselves way over their heads as the creature turns against them. This is one extraterrestrial terror you don’t want to miss. ‘Ghost in the Shell’ – March 31 Scarlett Johansson stars as the android Major Motoko Kusanagi in Paramount’s adaptation of the popular Japanese manga and anime series “Ghost in the Shell.” The trailer hints at a deeper internal conflict in store for Johansson’s Motoko. ‘The Fate of the Furious’ – April 14 The franchise known for emphasizing the importance of family comes back with a twist as Dom (Vin Diesel) appears to go rogue. “The Fate of the Furious” (otherwise known as “Fast and Furious 8”) pits Diesel and The Rock against each other in a confrontation that promises even more car stunts and explosions than the previous seven movies. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ – May 5 Star-lord. Gamora. Drax. Rocket. Yondu. Mantis. Nebula. Baby Groot. “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” highlights each of its main cast members with this entertaining trailer from Marvel Studios. “Welcome to the frickin’ Guardians of the Galaxy,” indeed. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales – May 26 Captain Jack Sparrow returns again and, you guessed it, he’s found himself in a deep mess. The dead are walking again in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” and Jack will need to find a legendary artifact called the Trident of Poseidon if he’s going to survive this one. ‘Baywatch’ – May 26 It’s undeniable that Dwayne Johnson’s adaptation of the 1990s TV series is full of eye candy. The trailer for “Baywatch” has scintillating clips of The Rock’s muscles, Kelly Rohrbach running in lifeguard gear, and Zac Efron tearing off his pants. Is your body ready? ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ – June 23 The latest installment of Michael Bay’s action franchise, Transformers: The Last Knight is expected to expand upon the already established mythos and feature the latest conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Judging by the Excalibur-esque sword being flashed around in the trailer, we can expect the canon to draw from Arthurian mythology. If nothing else, the indulgent destruction is sure to promise a thrill. Super Bowl TV Trailers Several television series also dropped trailers during the Super Bowl. Among them was the highly anticipated trailer for the second season of “Stranger Things.” ‘Legion’ (FX) – February 8 FX’s comic book adaptation “Legion” officially premiered this week to rave reviews. The series features Dan Stevens as David Haller, an incredibly powerful mutant suffering from a host of mental illnesses. It’s a different, more psychedelic take on the superhero genre. ‘The Walking Dead’ (AMC) – February 12 “The Walking Dead” hyped the second half of its seventh season with a morbidly hilarious fifteen-second trailer that, honestly, speaks for itself. AMC’s popular zombie series is set to return on February 12. ‘Feud: Bette and Joan’ (FX) – March 5 Ryan Murphy returns with a new series showcasing the explosive rivalry between Hollywood giants Joan Crawford (played by Jessica Lange) and Bette Davis (played by Susan Sarandon). “Feud: Bette and Joan” will premiere on March 5 on FX.
