He first joined TNT in November last year and became two-time defending champion. Tawag Ng Tanghalan Aug 30 performances, daily winner, and champion First contender, Jake Pilapil, sings “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” Jake is singer and dreamer from Mandaluyong City. Originally from Davao, he tried his luck in Manila hoping he would reach his dreams of becoming a famous singer like his grandmother, Pilar Pilapil. He lost his father to diabetes when he was 15 years old and recently lost his mom to lung cancer. Now that he’s alone in life, he tries to make ends meet through working as a part time bar tender. All for the sake of his dream. Judge Yeng called Jake a crooner. She just noticed he was a bit nervous which affected his performance a bit. She said he had the talent and just needed to fully grab it. Judge Mitoy said song choice was good, he indeed was a crooner and said he should follow that genre for his career. Second contender, Farrah Espinosa, sings “I’ll Be There.” Farrah is a single mom from Laguna. She makes sure she provides well for her family through their family business. They make home accessories out of aluminum and glass. Farrah is a businesswoman and a mom, but a musician by heart. When she was younger, she used to be in a band and used to join singing contests Nothing can stop Farrah from pursuing her dreams so she gives it all on the TNT stage singing a Jackson 5 hit taking on Mariah Carey’s version. Judge Rey Valera said he noticed Farrah wasn’t that confident when she started. But when she saw the audience clapping she became more confident. Rey advised her to go on in pursuing her dreams. He said, “Come out more, don’t be afraid to get hurt.” Third contender, Edmund Alfred Fabila, sings “Ngayon At Kailanman.” Edmund almost became a priest at one point. He went to a seminary but left after two years. He didn’t finish school but managed to become a free lance layout designer. He also is into event organizing and sings for those events too. Forty-one-year-old Edmund joins TNT hoping to get a big break that would help him give back to his family. “You have a great voice,” says Judge Billy Crawford but said Alfred had to take care of his pitch next time. Judge K Brosas said he had the voice but thought he had much more to offer. TNT Aug 30 daily winner, face-off, and a champion. TNT Wednesday winner who will be challenging defending champion Mark Las Pinas is Edmund Alfred Fabila. Alfred won over the other contenders with an average score of 90.8 percent. It’s Alfred vs. Mark Las Pinas. Alfred took on a Frank Sinatra hit singing, “What Kind Of Fool I Am.” Mark, on the other hand, sang Rey Valera’s “Tayong Dalawa.” Who wins this battle?
