POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: On Tawag Ng Tanghalan Aug 22 episode, new defending champion John Raymundo fights for his second win. On yesterday’s episode, John Raymundo faced defending champion Rocelle Solquillo and stole the golden microphone from her as she was fighting for her fourth win. Will John Raymundo beat today’s daily winner?

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Aug 22 performances, daily winner, and champion

First contender, Patricia La Gallez. Patricia is a grade 11 student and a worship leader in the church. She found out she had the voice when she was only 13 years old. Patricia takes the TNT stage singing “Umaaraw, Umuulan” by Rivermaya hoping to win so she could help and donate some of it to her church.

Judge Jaya loved how young Patricia was and how she didn’t try too hard to sound older than her age. Jaya advised her to go with pop rock because it seems to fit her well. Judge Louie Ocampo, on the other hand, said he liked the total package. How she looked, the timbre of her voice and her performance.

Second contender, Albelyn Balatero. Albelyn joined TNT once before in Feb 2016. She used what she won to buy more products for her mom’s sari sari store. Albelyn was a student then, but now she works as an inventory auditor for a mall. She hopes this time around, she would be able to go further than just a contender. Albelyn sang “Panunumpa” by Carol Banawa.

Head judge Gary Valenciano said Albelyn’s voice her voice wasn’t really for a contest like TNT. He said it wasn’t at all negative. He thinks Albelyn had a raw beautiful voice that would fit special events like weddings and other special events. Gary added he thinks her voice can be an inspiration to many.

Third contender, Jaycee Tongko. Jaycee’s family prepares home cooked meals like sinuglaw and sells them. He hopes he could be a chef someday. Jaycee sang Wency Cornejo’s “Hanggang” on the TNT stage. This singer from Mindanao had a super smooth take on the song. Will the judges like it?

Judge Yeng loved Jaycee’s overall performance but wondered he would do better if he sang a more modern song. Judge Karylle also loved his performance but said he needed to be more confident on stage.

TNT Aug 22 daily winner, face-off, and champion. Tuesday daily winner garnering an average score of 91.82 percent is contender from Mindanao, Jaycee Tongko.

For the face-off, Tuesday daily winner Jaycee sang Jay-R’s “Ngayo’y Naririto” while defending champion John Raymundo sang “In Your Eyes” by Dan Hill.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Aug 22 champion winning with an average score of 93.4 percent is John Raymundo. This is John’s second win on the show.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan airs Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime at noon.
