Tawag Ng Tanghalan Aug 29 Live Blog: Rommel Icban Fights For Second Win

POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG: On Tawag Ng Tanghalan Aug 29 episode, new defending champion Rommel Icban fights for his second win. Rommel stole the golden microphone from six-time defending champion John Raymundo on yesterday’s episode. This isn’t sad news for John since he already made it as a semi-finalist on Aug 25. Will Rommel get his second win?

First contender, Charito Chosantos. Sixty one-year-old Charito is energetic singer lola from Las Pinas. She’s been singing professionaly since she was 16 years old. Her talent is her bread and butter. Charito worked as a singer in Japan for 12 years. This is how she was able to put up her own house. Charito now wants to get that second chance in her career singing “I’ll Never Love This Way Again” by Dionne Warwick on the TNT stage.

Judge Nyoy Volante said Charito was very entertaining and she had a very good voice. He enjoyed his performance a lot. Judge Karylle, on the other hand, called her admirable and called her performance magnetic.

Second contender, Christian Cayobit. Christian comes from a family of musicians. Thanks to his dad and mom, he and his other siblings are now musicians as well. Since he was young, Christian competes for interschool competitions. He now works as a financial development officer ando works hard for his family. Christian now takes a bigger stage singing “Ikaw Nanga” by Darl Ong.

Head judge Gary Valenciano said Christian’s voice was so fresh. He knew his limitations and used that to his advantage. He also thought that Christian hasn’t reached the maximum potential of his voice.

Third contender, Mark Las Pinas. Mark joined TNT in November. He became two time defending champion but unfortunately lost when he was fighting for his third win. A few days later, he was in a bike accident. He feels like this is is second life. Now, Mark comes back stronger and more motivated. He sang “Broken Vow” hoping to make it further this time.

Judge Yeng Constantino heard a bit of Martin Nievera in Mark and said that there was something in his performacnce that captivates the audience. She said she was really impressed. Judge Louie Ocampo first of all commended him for his fighting spirit but said he was a bit disappointed only because Mark wasn’t able to relay the story well.

Mark Las Pinas sang “Larawang Kupas” by Jerome Abalos for the face-of challenging defending champion Rommel Icban who is now on to his second win. Rommel, on the other hand sang, “Paano Na Kaya” by Bugoy.

The judges have made their decision. Tuesday champion garnering an average score of 91.6 percent is Mark Las Pinas from Mindanao.

This is Mark’s first win for this quarter. Tawag Ng Tanghalan airs Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN on It’s Showtime at noon.
