Tawag Ng Tanghalan August 4 performances, daily winner, and champion First contender, Wendy Salvador. Wendy from Valenzuela City has made many mistakes in her life but having her son is not one of them. Wendy had to stop school since she got pregnant at a young age. She and her family with her mom. She helps makes a living selling fish in a local talipapa and joins singing contests for extra income. Wendy sings “Tunay Na Mahal” by Lani Misalucha inspired by her partner and son. Because of them, Wendy is encouraged to go on in life and continue dreaming. Wendy’s song was one of hurt and Karylle said she felt that. Although it really wasn’t spot on when it came to her notes but she was able to communicate the song well. Judge Yeng Constantino (welcome back Yeng) said song choice was great but quite challenging for her. She said it wasn’t great but was still a good performance. Second contender, Jeremiah Tiangco. Jeremiah took the TNT stage once before in January 2016. He became three-time defending champion but didn’t make it when he was on to his fourth win. Jeremiah’s motivation then is his motivation now. To win and help raise what they can so his dad wouldn’t need to work abroad. He’s been busy studying, practicing and singing for church as part of their worship team. Now, he sings “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” A jazzy feel and it seems he did bring justice to the song. Head Judge Rey Valera remembered vividly that Jeremiah sang “Bridge Over Troubled Waters” then. His voice stuck with him since then and said he was honored to hear Jeremiah sing again. Judge Rey said he did belt out a good vocal technique today. All in all a great performance. Third contender, Ria Simoy. Ria is mom of all trades from Bacolod City takes the stage TNT singing “Pangako” by Regine Velasquez. She proves to her kids that age doesn’t matter in achieving dreams. Ria is in between jobs from domestic duties to other income generating things. She would do anything for her family. Singing with much emotion and gusto, Ria gave a performance that made her family proud. Judge Kayla and Karylle said this was the first time a contender sang a Regine Velasquez song without actually sounding and imitating Regine’s voice and vocal riffs. They felt Ria’s passion in singing and said it was a great performance. Tawag Ng Tanghalan August 4 daily winner, face-off, and champion.
