Tawag Ng Tanghalan Almae

On yesterday’s episode of It’s Showtime’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” Angelo Ramos lost his title as champion to Almae Castillo, from Leyte.  The competition continued on Thursday, Dec. 15. “It’s Showtime” is now on its last few rounds of competition for the year 2016. The semifinals and grand finals are inching closer by the day. Almae Castillo or today’s daily champion could move on to the final stage of the competition.

Tawag ng Tanghalan, Dec. 15 Daily Contestants vs Visayas’ Almae Castillo

Patricia Gaile Atienza from Metro Manila

Patricia gamely played along when Anne Curtis and Vhong Navarro introduced her to Ryan Bang, who is apparently looking for a girlfriend. Patricia sang Whitney Houston’s “All At Once.”

Judge Erik Santos said her rendition was not exactly flawless. Hurado Mitoy also echoes Erik’s comments on Patricia’s shifting style when singing.

Arah May Robosa from Luzon

Arah almost got the gong, but hurado Ray Valera somehow changed his mind and let her finish “Pangako Sa ‘Yo.” Arah is a licensed teacher and eatery owner in Pangasinan.

While judge Valera did not seem particularly impressed, it seemed Arah still have a chance because Patricia’s number was not very strong, too.

Mark Rimando from Mindanao

Mark, a singer and songwriter from Davao del Sur, brought a combination of reggae and rock to the Tawag ng Tanghalan stage with his take on “Diwata.” He also indulged Vhong and Anne with samples of his own compositions.

Judge K Brosas said the panel got confused over Mark’s music. It started off sounding like a reggae, then it veered into the heavy metal territory. She then discouraged Mark from growling too much, because it could harm his vocal cords.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Dec. 15 Episode Winner is…

Arah from Pangasinan won the daily competition with 90 percent average rating from the judges. Patricia from Metro Manila was close enough with 89.6 percent. After a commercial break, Arah and Almae gave their best for the title of champion.

In a bid to beat Almae Castillo, Teacher Arah performed Bituin Escalante’s “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana.” To keep the champion title, Almae took on Basia’s “Time and Tide.” Who was the better singer for the judges?

The average ratings from the hurados: 91.4 percent and 90.6 percent in favor of the new champion. And the winner is — Arah May Robosa. Almae ends her Tanghalan journey today.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan airs on It’s Showtime Monday to Saturday at noon on ABS-CBN.
