Yesterday, Jex got his fourth win. He battled Tuesday winner Garrett Bolden Jr. with an average score of 92 percent. Will Jex get his fifth win today? If he does, Jex becomes part of “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” semi-grand finals. Tawag Ng Tanghalan December 21 Performances First contender on stage was ‘ala-eh-xcellent voice’ Ramoncito Ricafrente from Batangas. Ever since he joined “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” on February 15 his life changed. Ramoncito is now married with two children. He he wasn’t able to beat the defending champion then and he hopes to make it this time for his family. Ramoncito sang “How did You Know” by Gary Valenciano. Hurado Karylle said she noticed how prepared Ramoncito was for the competition. She said he was too close to Gary V’s version and said it would be better if he would bring out his identity. Hurado Yeng said, “Sobrang bilib ako sa’yo” because he performed a different genre from the last time he was on the show. Philip is a tech support for a BPO company and sings at hotels for special events. Philip is committed to his girlfriend of five years. He sang “Halik” by the Aegis, a rather interesting song choice. On a side note, TV Vhong said Philip looked like South Boarder’s vocalist, Brix Ferraris, who was also Amy Perez’s ex-husband. Hurado Ogie said he liked Philip’s version of the song and enjoyed his performance a lot. This 19-year-old IT student says she considers this her second life. When she was grade one, doctors said she had a swollen kidney but thankfully medications made her better. Sheenn sang “Love Hurts” to impress the judges. Sheenn said she really likes old songs that are usually for guys. Hurado Karla Estrada said Sheenn’voice quality fits a lot of songs other than songs that are for guys. Hurado Nyoy said it is given that she has a good voice but she has to be mindful of finishing each line of the song. Philip sang “Lay Me Down” by Sam Smith to battle Jex de Castro. Defending champion Jex sang “I Don’t Wanna Close My Eyes” hoping to get his fifth win. If Jex gets his fifth win, he will make it to Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s Semi-grand finals. But if he doesn’t, he still wins 135,000. So did Jex get his fifth win? The winner of today’s battle is– the new defending champion, Philip Mancol with an average score of 93 percent.
