Tawag Ng Tangahalan December 28 Performances

The first contender is 20-year-old Venisse Nicole Sy from Caloocan City. She is a working student currently in her third year studying BS Medical Laboratory Science. She loves to sing and performs covers on YouTube and Sound Cloud. She joined Tawag ng Tanghalan to pursue singing and to become a doctor because her mom is diabetic. She sang “Maghintay Ka Lamang” by Ted Ito and dedicates her performance to her father who has passed away. After she sang, Hurado Erik Santos said that Venisse’s voice has good tone quality, especially in the lower registers.

Up next is Luzon Contender, Weina Marie Eray. She is 20 years old and is from Puerto Princesa, Palawan. She is a ‘bandista’, a vocalist in her band and stopped studying to keep performing. Although she says it what she does is tiring, she feels she has to because as a single mom, she needs to go on to support her one-year-old son, Champ. With the support of her family she joined TNT share her talent and give her son a bright future. She sang “One Hello” by Randy Crawford.

Hurado Rey Valera said that Weina has good control of her voice and that she is a ‘pro’ when it comes to communicating with the band. The way she growls strategically in some part of her singing was also commended.

Third contender is Jomarie Alamahali, a.k.a. “The Singing Power of Pizza,” from Zamboanga. He used to sing in bars but decided to stop due to a bad experience. He wants to win to start a family business of his own so that his mom can come home and stop working in Saudi as an OFW. He said that instead of his mom taking care of other people’s children, he’d rather have his mom stay with them and take care of them.

He sang “I’d Rather” by Luther Vandross and Hurado K Brosas commended him for the timbre of his voice. However, she and Hurado Louie Ocampo said that his pronunciation needs improvement because the lyrics to the song was not understood as he was singing.
