POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG: On Saturday, Froilan Canlas won the battle against Saturday daily winner. Because of Froilan’s win he is now part of Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s Quarter 4 semi-finals. Will Froilan beat semi-finalist Sam Mangubat’s record on the show? or will he give the microphone to a new champion today?
Tawag Ng Tanghalan December 5 Performances
Mina Aeisha Tan was the first contender on stage. Mina is a singer and dancer. This 15-year-old got the love for singing from her dad. She wants to become a famous singer like her idol Sarah geronimo. She sang “Kapag Tumibok and Puso” by Toni Gonzaga.
Unfortunately, Hurado Rey Valera signaled for the gong. It may be because she wasn’t able to hit some notes in the beginning. Hurado Rey Valera said Mina’s song key was a bit low for her range. Hurado Louie Ocampo said it wasn’t the key, but it was nerves and her readiness for big competitions like Tawag Ng Tanghalan. Hurado K Brosas said Mina started with a wrong note and was also very nervous.

Next contender was Jacqueline Torreon from Cebu. This 23-year-old papa’s girl is a housewife who really loves singing. Her father goes to every singing competition she joins. She dedicates her performance to her dad. Jacqueline sang “Neither One of Us.” She started a bit strong but unfortunately, Hurado Rey Valera also signaled for the gong. Hurado Rey Valera said he liked her voice but she had a lot of flat notes.
Two Contenders ‘Na-Gong’ On Tawag Ng Tanghalan December 5
Hurado Rey Valera signaled the gong for contender Mina Tan and Jacqueline. They are both automatically disqualified from the competition. It is now up to contender number three. Will he/she be better than the other two contenders?
Last contender was Joven Torredes. Joven worked as a singer on a crew ship. He quit because he now has a 2-week-old baby. Now, he is a real estate agent. Joven sang “She Loves Me” by James Ingram. After his performance he shared his experience of how hard it was to work on a crew ship away from loved ones.
Tawag Ng Tanghalan Tanghalan December 5 Champion, Monday Daily Winner
Since two contenders were automatically disqualified, Joven is Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s Monday daily winner. For the one-on-one battle Joven sang “Be My Lady” by Martin Nievera. Semi finalist and defending champion Froilan Canlas sang “In Your Eyes” to battle daily winner Joven.
Froilan Canlas remains as Tawag ng Tanghalan’s defending champion and wins P 160,000 in total.
