Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb 10 Contenders

POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: Jex de Castro is now on to his fourth win as he grabbed his third win on yesterday’s episode of Tawag Ng Tanghalan. On December 20 last year, Jex also won his fourth win. If he wins today, he comes back on the show tomorrow and will try to break his own record of becoming a 4-time defending champion. So will Jex get his fourth win today?

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb. 10 Performances

Marivi Delleva from Laguna was the first contender on stage.  Marivi is twenty years old and is an AB Communication student. She juggles singing for contests and events and studying at the same time making the first her source of income. Marivi took the responsibility of giving her parents a better life through her singing career. Emotional and powerful were the two words hurado Billy used to describe Marivi’s performance. Hurado Yeng said it was her performance was an adventure and called her a good interpreter.

Next on stage was Edilberto Lopez Jr. from Cebu. The 40-year-old ‘resbaker’ joined the show on Feb. 16 last year. He wasn’t able to become daily winner at that time but since then, more opportunities opened for him and his band. Edilberto is now back on the show singing “Love of My Life” by Queen for his family and to prove to himself that he is not a quitter.

He also took this opportunity to send a message to his eldest daughter who blocked him on Facebook because of a “tampuhan” they had. Punong hurado Rey Valera said everything was great except for one note he wasn’t able to hit.

Last contender was Joy Laquinario from Davao. This 25-year-old singer and her band just finished a 3-year contract in China. Now she and her boyfriend, also her bandmate, arrange songs and make music videos online. She also sells accessories and is an expert in doing eyebrow make-up. Joy sang a very emotional and on point performance of “Sana Maulit Muli.”If she wins the show, she and her boyfriend would use what she earns to put up their own music studio.

Hurado Kayla loved how Joy didn’t try to sound like original singers of the song and called her voice tone unique and sweet. Hurado Ogie Alcasid said she had a beautiful voice but agreed with what Kayla that she had to work on her breathing and phrasing. Ogie gave her tips and asked her to sing a few parts of the songs like they were having voice lessons.

Today’s daily winner is Marivi Delleva with an average score of 92 percent. For the battles, Marivi sang Angeline Quinto’s “Kunin Mo Na Ang Lahat Sa Akin,” giving what is seems to be the best performance of her life, hitting those high riffs especially in the end. Defending champion Jex De Casto, gave an effortless performance of the song “You Are My Song,” to try and keep his place as Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s defending champion.

After Marivi and Jex’s impressive performances, the hurados have decided, today’s champion is — Jex De Castro garnering an average score of 94 percent.
