POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: On yesterday’s episode of Tawag Ng Tanghalan, Jex De Castro won over daily winner Elmer Jun Hilario with an average score of 93 percent. He grabbed his sixth win and now he is on to his seventh. Now that Jex is in for the semi-finals and has broken his own 4-time win record, he is now trying to get ten wins which can make him a Hall of Famer. Will he get his seventh win today?

In today’s episode, Carl Malone Montecido is back. If you remember, Carl Malone won as defending champion on October 29 last year and was defending champion for four days and was also featured in Maalaala Mo Kaya on new years eve.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb. 14 Valentine’s Day Performances

Twenty-eight-year-old Rose Velasquez from Pampanga was first on stage. Rose is a member of an all-girl group for eight years now. They sing in bars, casinos, and events. She has joined just one other singing competition in her life, The Voice Romania. Rose got engaged three years ago but didn’t push through with the wedding. She was faced with a painful truth about her fiance just months ago. Because of her experience, she was able to write some songs.

Rose sang “Saving All My Love For You” on stage hoping to win today’s competition. Hurado Billy said Rose was a good performer and had a good voice but had to work a little bit more on her timing.

Next contender was ‘resbaker’ from Bacolod, Carl Malone Montecido. This is Carl’s second try on the show. He won four battles in the show last year and was beaten by Mark Las Pinas during his fifth battle. Carl used what he earned on the show to buy items they needed at home. Fans have encouraged Carl more and said that even if he didn’t win last year, he was an inspiration to many.

Carl sang “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” for the judges and a few lines from  “Ikaw Nanga” for his special someone. by  Hurado Jaya said there was something special about Carl while hurado Billy said he was filled with soul.

Last contender of the day was Edeliza Neri from Cagayan De Oro. This 40-year-old ‘resbaker’ joined Tawag Ng Tanghalan in July last year. She was able to be defending champion for two days. Since then, opportunities came knocking on her door and she became a government employee as the band vocalist for Cagayan De Oro band.

Eliza used what she earned on the show for her daughter’s CT scan who has Cerebral Palsy. This is her third time to join and said she would keep on joining until she reaches her dream. Edeliza sang “Promise Me A Carousel” hoping to win today. Hurado Kayla wished Edeliza could become a recording artist and was impressed by her “expert” level performance.

Tuesday daily winner is contender from Visayas, Carl Malone Montecido with an average score of 94.6 percent. Now, the battle is between two ‘resbakers’ who made it two times as daily winner. Carl Malone vs Jex De Castro.

For the face-off, Carl sang “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin” by Martin Nievera while Jex sang “If I Ain’t Got You” by Alicia Keys. The hurados have spoken, today’s winner is — Carl Malone Montecido garnering an average score of 94.8 percent.
