Who will make it to the grand finals?

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb. 20 Quarter 4 Semi Finals Performances, Hazelyn Cascano and Sam Mangubat

First semi-finalist was Hazelyn Cascano singing her audition song that brought her to the Tawag Ng Tanghalan show, “My Way.” This “duty-ful” daughter from Marikina shares how important the song is to her. She was always criticized for her weight but her mom would always be there for her. And now, she sings facing all the hardships in life saying, “I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way.”

Hurado Rey Valera didn’t say much but called Hazelyn a champion and said she deserved to be on the competition.

Next semi-finalist to take the stage was Sam Mangubat from Batangas. Sam said he wasn’t really a “kontesero” but still chose to audition. He sang One Republic’s “Secrets” because every time he would sing it, the audience would always give him a loud applause. It was because of this song that he is now in the semi-finals.

After Sam’s performance, his fans couldn’t help but shout and cheer for him and this brought Sam to tears. He said he was too overwhelmed. Sam couldn’t really believe that he is where he is now and he thanked his fans he calls “angels” for being his inspiration.

Hurado Billy Crawford said he wasn’t surprised that Sam had a lot of fans because he really is a good singer and performer. Billy also said, “Saludo ako sa’yo Sam.” He also saw how composed he still was when he sang even after he was teary-eyed seeing his journey on the show. He and the hurados think Sam has a bright future in the industry and called his performance today one of the best performances Sam gave.

This 8-time defending champion made sure he showcased his vocal range from low riffs to his high falsetto and head tone voice. The hurados were clearly impressed with Froilan’s performance and can be seen cheering him on and even nodding their heads. Hurado K Brosas felt like it was the grand finals because clearly, Froilan gave it his best and said, “Bilib ako sa’yo.”

Next semi-finalist was Julia Faith Joaquin from Bohol who sang “I Dream A Dream” during her auditions. Julia chose this song because she dreams to sing for broadway and perform around the world. She also wants to become an inspiration for all dreamers out there.

Julia gave it her all and said even if she didn’t have a boyfriend she remembered her family which helped her give an emotional performance. Hurado Nyoy called her voice unique and said she was refined and theatrical. Nyoy like how Julia used her strengths to give a “napakagaling” performance.

She sings this song for her boyfriend and also used her family as her inspiration to give a powerful yet effortless performance hoping to make it to the grand finals.

Jex De Castro from Mandaluyong was the semi-finalist next on stage. “Bukas Nalang Kita Mamahalin” was his audition song. He chose this because he felt that he could relate to the message of the song well since it happened to him in real life and was hurt once before.
