Semi-finalist who got the lowest vote, 47.41 percent, was Hazelyn Cascano. The next semi-finalist who had the lowest score was revealed to be Julia Faith Joaquin with 50.08 percent.  These are just results from yesterday’s votes. Fans still have the opportunity to vote and save their favorite semi-finalist.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb. 21 Performances, Jex De Castro and Hazelyn Cascano

First semi-finalist to sing his fight song, Jex De Castro from Mandaluyong City. The last time he felt really down was when he had to stop school since his parents lost their jobs and his other siblings had to finish school. While they graduated, Jex was working stocking canned goods in a shopping mall. Because of his hard work, he was promoted as encoder and then became the youngest supervisor at the age of nineteen.

Hurado Nyoy Volante said he was a bit nervous about Jex’s song choice but was pleased to hear him put his own version to it and managed to pull off a good performance.

Next on stage was semi-finalist from Marikina, Hazelyn Cascano. Hazelyn’s father has never seen her perform on stage since he doesn’t agree with her chosen career. Even if she already finished her degree, she still doesn’t feel the support of her father. Her desire is to reach her dream and at the same time have a closer relationship with her father. Hazelyn sang “Saan Darating Ang Umaga” which describes her relationship with her dream and her father.

“Powerhouse” says hurado Jaya and said Hazelyn was tremendously talented. She added how she puts her heart into her performances.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb. 21 Performances, Joylaine Canonio, Sam Mangubat and Julia Faith Joaquin

Joylaine Canonio was next on stage. Joylaine fights for her dream and now, her boyfriend. Her parents didn’t want her to meet with her boyfriend as soon as she made it to Tawag Ng Tanghalan. She understands her parents and took her parents advice. Joylaine chose the song “Secret Love Song” because it fits the situation she now faces with her boyfriend.

It was another effortless performance from Joylaine as she hit the high vocal riffs the song demanded. Hurado Louie Ocampo said Joylaine sang very well but her performance lacked the emotion feeling and power.

Next on stage was crush ng bayan, Sam Mangubat. Sam’s biggest challenge was his struggle as an artist. He thought he would just be an online sensation. Little did he know that he would be a crew ship performer and his voice will be heard around the world. He became homesick but his parents encouraged him and said he was never alone. His fight song is, “Everything I Do, I do It For You,” and dedicates it to his family.

Hurado Karylle said Sam’s advantage was millions of viewers on YouTube. She said she feels Sam would really go far.

Julia Faith Joaquin was the next semi-finalist to take the stage. Julia is part of the bottom two and now she fights for a spot on the grand finals and fights for her dream to become a famous broadway singer and desire to perform around the world. She sang “Everybody Has a Dream.”

Julia was in tears after her performance. Punong hurado Rey Valera tried to console her by saying the voting was just a perception. But he says perception is everything.  Hurado Rey said Julia had everything but needed to reach out to the audience more if she wants to reach her dream. Julia said she already felt that she would already be in the bottom two.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb. 21 Performance, Froilan Canlas And Carl Malone Montecido

Down to two more semi-finalists. Carl Malone Montecido from Bacolod was next on stage. Carl’s biggest challenge in life was when he was separated from his parents. A family adopted him once before and everything went well up until they had financial problems. The family treated him differently that time and started to take on their problems on him. He now sings “Pagsubok” of Orient Pearl

Hurado Louie Ocampo was very well pleased with Carl Malone’s song choice. He liked every bit of his performance from his vocal riffs down to his interpretation.

Last semi-finalist was Froilan Canlas from Camarines Sur. Froilan’s challenge in life was when he lost the passion for singing. He channeled his efforts into teaching but realized that maybe it wasn’t just the right time for him. He now sings  El Debarge’s hit, “Time Will Reveal” hoping that time would just reveal when his passion would somehow kick in again. It seems his passion has indeed returned as he gave an impressive performance of the song.

Hurado Rey Valera couldn’t say anything else but said Froilan’s performance was sexy. It seems hurados enjoyed his performance as well just like yesterday as they were seen dancing to the beat of Froilan’s song.
