She promised herself to continue singing until she can face the people who discouraged her from reaching her dreams. Her Awit ng Buhay for today’s performance is “Fight Song”. With the love and support of her family, she stands tall and strives hard to become a famous singer one day.

Judge Karylle said she embodies an empowered Disney princess- full of spirit and charisma. Although the judge also pointed out how she loved Julia’s voice more with standard songs.

The inspirational son of Bacolod City, Carlmalone Montecido was next to grace the stage. He shared his love for the world – “Even though I can’t see the beauty of the world, I can hear it through music.” Carlmalone expressed how he felt down when he lost on his first singing competition. His mother encouraged him to hold his head up high and not give up on his love for singing. He believes that the Almighty is there, watching over him to reach his dreams. His “Awit ng Buhay” is “Maghintay Ka Lamang”.

It was another soulful performance from Carlmalone. Hurado Ogie Alcasid said he can hear not just his voice, but also his wonderful soul. The judge added the semi-finalist’s performance is perfect.

Tawag ng Tanghalan Feb.25 Performances, Hazelyn Cascaño and Joylaine Canonio

Hazelyn Cascaño of Marikina City was next on stage. She shared how she joined many singing competitions and lost many of them. She also experienced discrimination because of her body. This resulted in Hazelyn’s lack of confidence. Because of this, she resorted to acting and there, she found herself acting and singing with confidence. She believes that God has perfect timing for everything. Hazelyn claimed, “This is my time. I will not waste any chance. I will continue my dreams”. She sang “This Is My Now”.

Head judge Rey Valera praised how Hazelyn always gives her best in every performance. The judge said if ever he was a bystander along the streets and the semi-finalist asks the way to fame, he would say, “You are already famous”.

Tawag ng Tanghalan Feb.25 Performances, Jex De Castro and Froilan Canlas

Jex De Castro of Mandaluyong City performed “Lead Me Lord” as his “Awit Ng Buhay”. He is an active church-goer, but as time passed, he became “overconfident”. He lost time for his family and for the Lord. When his parents lost their jobs, he felt that earth beneath him started to crumble.  He stopped attending school and started working. Despite all these experiences, he continued believing the Almighty. Jex said, “He is always there for me. He welcomed me again. And for that, I dedicate my talent to Him.”

Judge Rey Valera said he felt grace coming down upon him during Jex’ performance. The judge then added, “I hope you win.”

Next on stage was Froilan Canlas. He expressed how being on Tawag Ng Tanghalan fulfilled his dreams. Being applauded by respected names in the industry made him and his family proud. He sang “Light and Shade”. He believes that letting go of your fears will help you fly high to reaching your dreams.

Judge Ogie Alcasid said,” You are like an artist. Starting from a clean canvas you turn into a beautiful painting. Like ‘Light and Shade’- a pop song which you turned into an anthem. It became an Obra Maestra. You are an artist.” The judge then emphasized it would be an injustice if Froilan will not enter the Grand Finals.

Froilan received another standing ovation from the judges.
