POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb. 27 Episode is the ultimate showdown. All semi-finalist from Quarter 1 to Quarter 4 who weren’t lucky enough to make it have another chance to qualify for the upcoming Grand-Finals.
This whole week, from Feb. 27 to Mar. 4, fans of fourteen ‘ultimate resbakers’ namely: Froilan Canlas, Joylaine Canonio, Jex De Castro, Hazelyn Cascano, Julia Faith Joaquin, Jennie Gabriel, Rufino Robles, Antonio Salabza, Christopher Mendrez, Phoebe Salvatierra, Andrey Magada, Dominador Alviola Jr., Rachel Gabreza and Jamie Navarro.
These ultimate resbakers did a draw lots on Saturday to know when they will be performing and who they will be competing with.
On Saturday, Tawag Ng Tanghalan Quarter 4 came to a close. Carl Malone Montecido and Sam Mangubat were the newest addition to the lineup of Grand finalists based on the voting results. Click here to read a recap of Saturday’s episode.
Tawag ng Tanghalan, How to Vote
The hurados are not the only one who can judge the semi-finalists performances. Fans could also vote for their favorite performers by simply texting TAWAG plus the name of their favorite semi-finalist (i.e TAWAG JULIA) and send to 2366.
Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb. 27, Hazelyn, Joylaine, Jex De Castro and Joylaine sing ‘Titanium’
According to today’s draw lots, semi-finalists Pheobe Salvatiera, Hazelyn Cascano, Jex De Castro and Joylaine Canonio will be fighting head to head today. These four semi-finalists opened the show with a powerful peformance of “Titanium.” On a side note, Jex De Castro is the only thorn among the roses today.
Hazelyn Cascano sings ‘Impossible Dream’
Hazelyn Cascano is the first ‘ultimate resbaker’ to perform on stage. She sings “The Impossible Dream” by Frank Sinatra. Hazelyn showed more of her fighting spirit as she was able to give a powerful ending to her song despite the fact that she’s been singing the whole week last week.
“So powerful” says hurado Billy Crawford. He also said he hopes that this time Hazelyn shines in this part of the competition and wishes her luck.
Jex De Castro Wow the Hurados with Beyonce’s ‘Love On top’
Jex De Castro- the big bro with a big heart- is back on stage to fight for a place in the Grand Finals. He took on Beyonce’s “Love On Top.” Respect for this singer as he sang Beyonce’s version taking the key a few steps higher like the Queen B. Awesome!
Hurados are definitely enjoying his performance as Yeng got up on her feet and danced. Hurado Billy and K Brosas both stood up after his performance while Hurado Rey Valera also danced to the beat while he was on his seat.
Hurado Erik Santos said he understood how it was to be the “wild card” of a show and understood how hard it was to fight in the competition. He said, “You deserve a spot on the semi-finals.”
Joyaline Canonio sings Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand hit
Ultimate resbaker from Mindanao Joylaine Canonio was next. Joylaine takes her recent failure and uses that as fuel for today’s show. This inspiring teacher sang “Tell Him” by Celine Dion and Barbra Streisand.
Hurado K Brosas said Joylaine already made her mark on the show. So whatever happens, Joylaine should know that she has already inspired a lot of people. K Brosas also mentioned how well she was able to interpret a song that was supposed to be a duet.
Phoebe Salvatiera Get Hurados and Madlang People up on their feet
Phoebe Salvatiera from Quarter 2 is back on the show singing “I Need A Hero” by Bonnie Taylor. She gave it her all. Phoebe was beaming with energy with her voice and her dance. Phoebe is the only contender who wasn’t on the show last week. Joylaine, Jex and Hazelyn were in Quarter four.
Hurado Yeng Constantino loved how happy she was on stage and how bad she wants the spot on the Grand Finals through her performance. Phoebe’s dancing inspired everyone in the studio to dance. Vice Ganda started to dance to the beat of “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” and before you know it, everyone ended up dancing including the hurados who busted a move.
Punong hurado Rey Valera thanked all ultimate resbakers at the end of the show saying, “Thank you for all the ultimate memories.”
Jex De Castro, Ultimate Resbaker For Day 1
Checked and verified by ABS-CBN audit, the graph showed the total number of votes namely: 99.80 percent, 45.03 percent, 39.10 percent and 34.13 percent.
Rey Valete of ABS-CBN audit gave the envelope which contains the name of the ultimate resbaker who got the highest votes. And today’s ultimate resbaker is- Jex De Castro with a score of 99.80 percent.
It was revealed that both hurados votes and madlang peoples votes had thesame outcome. For text votes Jex got 50 percent and for hurados scores, Jex got 49.80 percent.
