Jex De Castro joined TNT in December and became a 4-time defending champion. He comes back hoping to make it to the semi-finals. Will Jex get his second win today? Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb. 8 Performances Timothy Ramon from Albay was the first contender on stage. Forty-year-old Timothy joined the show in January last year. He sang an April Boy Regino song but unfortunately, he didn’t win. Timothy is back singing “Gulong ng Palad,” hoping that his song choice this time around would bring him luck. Judge Karylle noticed that Timothy wasn’t at ease on stage since the song was out of his comfort zone but judge Jaya said he was still able to give a good performance. Contender from Negros Oriental, Auleen Artajo was next on stage. Auleen is 22 years old and became a mom at a young age. She had to stop school and work to support her son. She and her husband together with Auleen’s dad help each other to make a living. Auleen is a singer, her husband a videographer, and her father a photographer. During events, they work as a family. Auleen sang “Ako Ang Nagwagi, Ako Ang Nasawi” by Dulce. Head judge Rey Valera liked how Auleen’s voice over powers the band in a good way. Last contender on stage was Jonathan Baclayo from Davao. Jonathan is 41 years old and does his best to provide for his family. He joined Tawag Ng Tanghalan in January last year and returns to the show singing “You’ve Got The Magic Touch” by the Platters. With much emotion, Jonathan tries to win today’s battle hoping to use what he can earn for his family. Judge K Brosas called Jonathan very entertaining and said he had a magical touch. Judge Louie Ocampo, on the other hand, called it a magical performance. Tawag Ng Tanghalan Feb.8 Champion Jonathan Baclayo indeed had the “magic touch” as he won over two contestants with an average score of 92.8 percent. It is now daily winner vs. defending champion. Jonathan sang “Dakilang Lahi” and Jex sang “Hanggang Sa Dulo Ng Walang Hanggan.” Who wins this battle? The judges have spoken, Jex De Castro wins the battle and remains as Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s defending champion garnering an average score of 93.8 percent. Facebook Comments
