Tawag Ng TAnghalan Kids June 10, TNT Champion

ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime kicks off its June 10 episode with an opening number from the Hashtags, Jugs and Teddy, Nadine Lustre and Tawag Ng Tanghalan hurados Yeng Constantino, Jolina Magdangal and Jed Madela. Grand finalists Mackie Empuerto,  Sheena Belarmino, Francis Concepcion, Keifer Sanchez, and Jhon Clyde Talili join the number in charming Filipiniana costumes. Wearing a stunning ‘shades of gray’ ensemble, regular host Anne Curtis later joins the group in singing the show’s theme. Spider-Man is also in the show to entertain the audience and the grand finalists from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. This live blog follows the highlights of the show up to the announcement of the first ever TNT grand champion.

Soon enough, hurados Billy Crawford, Karla Estrada, Jaya, Karylle, Kyla, Jed Madela, Jolina Magdangal, Erik Santos, Louie Ocampo and Punong Hurado Yeng Constantino take their seats at the panel. The hosts explain the mechanics of voting. The audience can vote only once per SIM. Voting duration lasts for only one commercial break. The final results will be computed from 50 percent of text votes results plus 50 percent from hurado scores.

On Twitter, fans start making comments about Anne Curtis’ dress, saying it seems she always wears black on special Showtime occasions. The actress replies, saying black is her favorite color.

Now here are the TNT Kids grand finalists:

Mackie Empuerto from San Juan City. He begins May Bukas Pa (Rico J. Puno) on belting mode. Emotionally connected to the song, this kid is not wasting any moment on stage. He gets a standing ovation from the judges. During a chat with hosts Vhong and Vice Ganda, Mackie says he has become friends with his fellow grand finalists, and he’s particularly close to Francis. Billy is impressed with his vocal performance, but he also points out that his positive attitude is remarkable. Louie says everything about his performance from beginning to end was remarkable. To vote, send Tawag Mackie to 2366 once voting lines are open.

Francis Concepcion from Zamboanga. “Para sa inyo ‘tong lahat,” he says, before taking the audience on a journey through Halo (Beyoncé). The innocence in his vocals is both charming and captivating. This Grade 4 charmer gives the audience a glimpse of his acting skills, showing various facial expressions after getting prompts from Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis. Candidly, he says Vice Ganda should wear Anne’s gown. Hurado Erik Santos praises Francis for his stage presence, saying he is a true entertainer. To vote, send Tawag Francis to 2366 once voting lines are open.

Sheena Belarmino from Cebu. Pretty in pink, she takes on One Moment In Time (Whitney Houston) like a pro, starting slowly with soft, low notes then soaring strongly on high notes. If she won the one million cash prize, she would spend it in school and give her family a “blow out.” When she grows up, she would study to become a vessel engineer like her mother. Hurado Jaya says Sheena’s version is perfect and angelic. Hurado Jolina points out that Sheena is a total performer who certainly has a place in showbiz. To vote, send Tawag Sheena to 2366 once voting lines are open.

Keifer Sanchez from Davao. Smiling and engaging the audience, he sings Shine (Regine Velasquez) effortlessly, as if he’s been performing for more than a lifetime.  All the hurados are on their feet, applauding enthusiastically after Keifer’s number. Asked what he was thinking while singing, Keifer says he thought of happy memories with his parents, when they’re enjoying family bonding at parks or malls. Hurado Karylle says Keifer’s performance was stellar, and his runs were on point. Clearly impressed, hurado Jed says he couldn’t understand the disproportion between Keifer’s tiny frame and his big, solid vocals. “Keep that smile, because it’s very infectious,” Jed adds. To vote, send Tawag Keifer to 2366 once voting lines are open.

Jhon Clyde Talili from Surigao del Sur. Singing I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing (Aerosmith), he emotes to the song like an old soul and delivers the most difficult parts of the song with confidence, and as he says, “with feelings.” Despite slightly losing his voice, Jhon Clyde delivers music without showing any signs of exhaustion. Hurado Kyla praises him for overcoming the difficulties of the competition throughout the week. (He was the last to compete in the semifinals.) To vote, send Tawag Clyd to 2366 once voting lines are open.

Voting lines open at 2:23 p.m. After a commercial break, the voting lines will be closed. At this point, it seems the competition is tight among Macky, Sheena and Keifer. (Update: Surprise!) The winner announcement is less than an hour away.

After a commercial break that lasted for more than 15 minutes, votings lines have been closed. Mackie, Francis, Sheena, Keifer and Clyde take the stage for a group number. They all sing Stand By Me (Ben E. King) and take turns delivering the song’s highlights. It seems no one is feeling the tension from the imminent announcement of the competition’s winner.
