Tawag Ng Tanghalan Winner Is Noven Belleza; Sam Mangubat, Froilan Canlas In Final 3 (Recap)

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Grand Finals unfolds Saturday on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime. Noven Belleza, Froilan Canlas, Carlmalone Montecido, Sam Mangubat, Pauline Agupitan and Marielle Montellano are vying to be the show’s first big winner. Public votes will help these contestants win.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Winner Is Noven Belleza

From the six grand finalists, the hurados and public voters will pick their Final 3.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Final Three Winners: Sam, Froilan, Noven

In no particular order, the Final 3 are: Sam Mangubat (Luzon), Froilan Canlas (Luzon) and Noven Belleza (Visayas).

The TNT journey of Carlmalone Montecido, Pauline Agupitan and Marielle Montellano end here. The final three will now perform again for the hurados and the voters. Froilan opens the final round with a medley of classic OPM songs. Master OPM songwriter Ogie Alcasid wells up, visibly proud of the beauty of OPM and Froilan’s powerful performance.

Sam Mangubat brings his game A with his modern genre, featuring the music of Bruno Mars. He picked songs that showcase his vocal tone and brings out his dance moves. For his final moment on stage as TNT contestant, Noven Belleza goes for karaoke ballads. The extraordinary quality of his voice soars and brings the hurados on their feet, as he begins his Air Supply medley. By the end of his song, many of the judges, through their gestures of support, were short of announcing Noven has won.

All scores are now back to zero. Who is the first winner of Showtime’s Tawag ng Tanghalan? The winner gets a recording package, negosyo package, a family vacation package, two million pesos and a house and lot.

Announcement Time, 3:30 p.m. | The third place winner is Froilan Canlas. He gets P250,000.

Finally, it has been revealed – Noven Belleza, a farmer from Negros Occidental, is the first winner of Tawag Ng Tanghalan.

Grand Finalists’ Songs, Recap Of Highlights

Pauline Agupitan

The first to take on the Showtime stage is a singing contest pro from Batangas City. She was able to help her siblings and buy a tricycle for her father out of her winnings. For her grand finals moment, Pauline sings And I Am Telling You I Am Not Going from the musical movie Dreamgirls. This is one of the most popular signature songs of American Idol’s Jennifer Hudson.

Pauline gets a standing ovation from the hurados. Hurado Erik Santos her performance was excellent.

Carlmalone Montecido

Carlmalone Montecido’s journey on It’s Showtime has paved the way for his life story be broadcasted on ABS-CBN’s Maalaala Mo Kaya. Click here to read a recap of his MMK episode.

For the TNT grand finals, Carlmalone sings Pananagutan, the theme of ABS-CBN’s Honesto series, performed by Gary Valenciano. Hurado Karylle tells Carlmalone his song choice remind people of the dignity of human life. Hurado Billy says the audience heard Carlmalone’s heart.

Sam Mangubat

Sam Mangubat of Batangas City has one of the strongest social media fan base in the competition. Saying he wants to win the competition as the millenials’ rep, Sam sings Fall For You by Secondhand Serenade. Hurado Yeng Constantino says she is his fan and she would write a song for him.

Noven Belleza

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Grand Finals judge Rico J. Puno gives Noven Belleza the highest praise Noven could get for his performance of May Bukas Pa. It’s Showtime hosts Vice Ganda and Vhong Navarro point out Rico was visibly impressed while Noven was singing his original song. “Napakagaling mo,” Rico tells Noven.

Marielle Montellano

Marielle Montellano used to be a tour guide in Cebu. An accident nearly took her life, so every day from then was a celebration of a second chance for the young singer. For her grand finals performance, Marielle takes on Deniece Williams’ Healing. Hurado Jaya thinks she has made the song her own.

Froilan Canlas

“I think this is singing at its best,” Hurado Louie Ocampo tells Froilan Canlas. He says his rendition of UDD’s Tadhana is from a young man with an old soul. Hurado Ogie Alcasid calls him VV or vocal virtuoso. He tells Froilan to teach him how to sing.

Voting lines opened at 1:25 p.m. To vote, text TAWAG then name of contestant – Pauline, Carlmalone, Sam, Noven, Marielleor Froilan – and send to 2366. This will work for any network. The Top 3 will be revealed after the commercial break.

Voting lines were closed at 1:40 p.m. What follows is a tribute to the original Tawag Ng Tanghalan icons and a performance by the hurados.

There is an outpouring of emotions on stage as the champions of the past generation’s TNT joined the hurados on stage, singing Florante’s Handog.
