POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG RECAP: After this week’s roller coaster of good and bad performances, defending champion Julia Joaquin makes sure she is always prepared as she keeps her title for three episodes now. On yesterday’s show, she beat daily winner Christelle Tiquis with an average score of 92.8 percent singing “Don’t Rain On My Parade.” Today, Julia fights for her fourth win, one more win and she makes it to the semi finals.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Jan 11 Performances

Twenty-one-year old Jay Lara Joy Fuersaz from Muntinlupa was the first contender to impress the judges. Jay Lara joins beauty contests and seem to make it but for singing competitions, she hasn’t won. She now takes the Tawag Ng Tanghalan stage hoping to break through her fear of losing singing competitions. Joy sang Celine Dion’s hit, “It’s all Coming Back To Me Now.” Jay Lara’s was confident and she had good register on TV but had slight flats during her performance according to Hurado Jaya. Hurado Nyoy also noticed Jay’s beauty and said it added well to the package.

Rea Gloria was the next challenger. Rea is a twenty-year-old band vocalist. She had to stop school due to financial problems and her family is not able to support her. She had to work as a waitress in a fast food chain and also worked as a baby sitter part time. Because of her hard work, she was able to finish a 2-year vocational course. Despite her active lifestyle, she shares that she had a Kidney problem but that is not stopping her from what she wants to do. Rea sang “Change The World” using her experiences as her inspiration. Rea was able to execute her low notes and high notes well as stated by Punong hurado Rey Valera.

Last contender was Glenn Paul Melendez from Davao. Glenn is a graduate of a management course but he found his love in writing and directing films. He also found the love for writing songs. Glenn sang “True Colors” which showcased his smooth and powerful voice.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Jan 11 Kampeon, Wednesday Winner

Wednesday daily winner is Glenn Paul Melendez garnering an average score of 92.8 percent. For the battle round, Glenn sang “She Keeps Me Hangin’ On,” while defending champion Julia Faith Joaquin sang “Nearness of You.”

The hurados have spoken, the winner is– Julia Faith Joaqin with an average score of 93.2 percent. This is Julia’s fourth win, one more and she is in for the semi-finals.
