Sino kanila Meagen, Joylaine at Bemelyn ang magtatagumpay sa tanghalan?#ShowtimeMiyerkuLetsBeHappy pic.twitter.com/DgMKRldw2Y — Tawag Ng Tanghalan (@TNTABSCBN) January 18, 2017 First contender on stage was Bhemelyn Alican from Sta. Mesa. Thirty-year-old Bhemelyn joined Tawag Ng Tanghalan to prove to people that she can indeed sing. She and her husband are trying to get pregnant amidst some problems with her ovaries. Bhemelyn sang “A Secret Love Song” by Little Mix. After her performance, TV host Vice Ganda said Bhemelyn does not have to prove herself to other people, she just has to do what she wants to do. Hurado Erik and KBrosas said Bhemelyn had the voice quality but had flat notes and struggled with her high notes. Twenty-year-old Maegan Reyes from San Pablo City, Laguna was the next challenger on stage. Maegan migrated to Australia years ago with her mother and father who works as a mechanical engineer. She came back to the Philippines with her mom to finish her studies. Maegan is a medtech student, she plays the guitar and piano as well. She sang Mariah Carey’s “Vision of Love” but unfortunately, she wasn’t able to hit the notes the song demanded so hurado Yeng had to signal for the gong. Hurado Yeng said she had the confidence, but song choice was a bit off because Maegan wasn’t able to hit the important notes of the song and saw she had difficulty with it. Joylaine Canonio from Saranggani Province was the last contender of the day. Joylaine is a teacher at a school located in the mountains of Saranggani Province. The school is a two-hour hike away from Joylaine’s home. Although her work is hard, she doesn’t regret any of it because it is because of the children in the mountains that she became a teacher. Joy teaches general subjects to Grade 1 and 2 students. Joy performed the song “Akin Ka Nalang” which hurado Billy described as effortless. Hurado Jaya said her voice was really made for the stage and hoped that she could reach her dream of becoming a famous singer. Tawag Ng Tanghalan Jan 18 Champion, Wednesday Winner Today’s daily winner got an average score of 94.2 percent. Congratulations Joylaine Canonio from Mindanao! For the face-off, Joylaine sang “On The Wings Of Love” hoping to grab the “golden mikropono” from defending champion Ruben Tejano. Ruben sang “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin” hoping to keep the title. With both performances the hurados have decided, today’s winner is Joylaine Canonio. Joylaine beats Ruben Tejano with an average score of 94.2 percent.
