POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: Joylaine Canonio proves to be unbeatable as she grabbed her sixth win on yesterday’s episode. Joylaine earned her fifth win on Saturday which automatically put her on the list of Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s semi-finalist. Now, she is on to her seventh win. Will Joylaine beat today’s daily winner? On a side note, today is Nyoy Volante’s birthday. Will he be performing on stage today?

On today’s episode, semi-finalists Sam Mangubat, Froilan Canlas and Hazelyn Cascano opened the show with a powerful performance of “Magkasuyo Buong Gabi.”

Walton Zerudo from Malabon City was the first contender of the day. He started singing at the age of fifteen and started his singing career by then with his band. He got married at the age of 23 and unfortunately he got sick because of complications with his intestines and soon after lost his band. Walton got depressed and wasn’t able to take care of his family. Now, Walton is making up for lost times as he hopes to win and try again for his wife and three kids. Walton sang Stevie Wonders “Knocks Me Off my Feet.” Hurado K Brosas and other hurados noticed that Walton was nervous but liked his voice and vocal riffs.

Next on stage was contender from Cavite, Domingo Berroya. Domingo used to be a ‘balut’ vendor. He also worked as a choreographer until he was able to put up his own parlor. Domingo was able to buy a house where his six other siblings are now staying. Because of his hard work, he now runs his own business and spends his spare time joining competitions like this. Domingo sang “Pagsubok” by Orient Pearl. Unfortunately,  punong hurado Billy Crawford signaled for the gong. According to Billy, Domingo’s voice was shake-y from the get go and he song choice was also a problem. Domingo said he was ok and it didn’t matter, he also said he was a bit tired because of rehearsals which affected his performance. Domingo is automatically disqualified.

Last contender was Maxel Joseph Muldez from Cebu. The twenty-year-old sang Jaya’s hit, “Wala Na Bang Pag-ibig.” Maxel is a fourth year AB Music student taking Voice as a major. He is part of a harana group in Cebu who sing for clients when hired, He grew uo with his grandmother together with his three siblings. Maxel hopes to win today to help his family and reach his dream of becoming a famous singer. Hurado Kayla and Nyoy loved his performance and his will to win. She was just looking for more connection with the audience.

Today’s daily winner is Walton Zerudo with an average score of 90.6 percent. Walton sang “Wonderful Tonight” for the face-off hoping to grab the “golden mikropono” from semi-finalist and defending champion Joylaine Canonio. Joy sang “Kung Iniibig Ka Niya” hoping to keep her place.
