POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: Lendon Zuniga from Dumaguete grabbed the “golden mikropono” from seven-time defending champion Joylaine Canonio on yesterday’s episode. Joy needed three more wins to become Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s Hall of Famer. It was still a win-win for Joy since she was able to earn and take home P 195,000 and is part of the show’s semi-finals.

Jeramie Sanico Leaves ‘Tawag Ng Tanghalan’

In today’s episode, quarter four semi-finalists Julia Faith Joaquin, Froilan Canlas, Jeramie Sanico, Sam Mangubat, Hazelyn Cascano and Joylaine Canonio opens the show with a powerful performance of Aerosmith’s hit song, “Dream On.” After their performance, semi-finalist Jeramie Sanico said farewell to her fans and the rest of the Tawag Ng Tanghalan crew. Due to other priorities in her life, Jeramie Sanico had to end her journey on Tawag Ng Tanghalan.

Jeramie Sanico won as daily winner and defending champion on Oct 17. She overthrew Hazelyn Cascano who was the defending champion at that time. Jeramie got her fifth win and became a semi-finalist on Oct 21.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Jan 27 Performances

Fifteen-year-old Mikaela Aquino from  Caloocan City was the first to take the stage. Mikaela’s dream is to become a famous singer, broadcaster or host someday. She sees herself getting into showbiz and sees Tawag Ng Tanghalan as a stepping stone. Aside from singing, Mikaela is also skilled in dancing, drawing and joins beauty pageants as well. Her father works abroad, while she and her family live as caretakers for a home. She sang Adele’s hit “Chasing Pavements” hoping to win and use what she has to slowly build their own house. Kyla called Mikaela’s voice “now” and very current. She loved her high and low registers and vibrato as well, and said she had big potential.

Next contender was Trixie Dayrit from Bulacam. Trixie studies Music and majors in voice at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She and her sister are both singers who usually compete in singing contests. Despite the competition, Trixie and her sister are really close. Trixie sang “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston.

Last contender was Celino Sitiar, a fifty-five-year-old fireman from Zambaonga. Celino has been working for the Bureau of Fire Protection for nineteen years now. At his age, he is always energetic for new experiences. Through much research on the internet, he was able to make solar electricity which they use at the station now.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Jan 27 Champion, Trixi Dayrit vs Lendon Zuniga

Trixie Dayrit is today’s daily winner garnering an average score of 93.4 percent. Trixie sang “What Kind Of Fool Am I” by Frank Sinatra for the face-off. Defending champion Lendon Zuniga sang Tom Jones’ “Why Can’t I Cry.”

The hurados have spoken, and today’s champion is Lendon Zuniga winning with an average score of 93.2 percent.
