Tawag Ng Tanghalan Jan 6 Episode: Maria Panaligan Fights For 3rd Win

POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG RECAP: Maria Panaligan proves the judges that she is indeed worthy of the ‘golden mikropono’ as she got her second win on yesterday’s episode of Tawag Ng Tanghalan. Maria sang Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” garnering an average score of 92.2 percent. She beat daily winner Jo Ramos who lost over two points. Will Maria Panaligan get her third win today?

Tawag Ng Tanghalan January 6 Performances

Contender Willamar Ruadilla from Makati was first to take the stage. Willamar became the bread winner of the family ever since his father got sick. He is a government employee and helps his parents sell puto and kutsinta on the side. Rey Valera’s song “Tayong Dalawa” was the contest piece Willamar chose to sing on stage. “It’s a good solid voice,” says Hurado Karylle although he needs to capitalize on his strengths. Hurado Jaya on the other hand said Williamar put a bit too much color to the original arrangement of Rey Valera but loved his voice as well.

Seventeen-year-old Isabel Garsuta from Bohol gave an adorable performance of Jessie J’s “Price Tag.” Isabel is a Grade 11 student who teaches voice, piano and violin part time. She got the passion to teach from her parents who are currently teachers at the University of Bohol. Hurado Rey Valera says Isabel should join more contests and learn from other musicians because he believes Isabel has a future in the music industry despite Isabel’s dream of becoming a lawyer.

‘Resbaker’ Crismar Olveros from General Santos comes back hoping to get a second chance in grabbing the ‘golden mikropono.’ Crismar wasn’t fortunate enough to win as daily winner in August last year. He sang “Bakit Kung Sino Pa” passionately for his family. Winning the competition means he would be able to provide more for his family, get treatment for his daughter suffering from heart disease and it would mean an opportunity for him to put up his own parlor. Hurado K Brosas noticed Crismar made a mistake but still said she wanted to hear more from him because she loved the quality of his voice. Tone quality and is also one of the positive things that Hurado Erik liked and commended Crismar for giving a powerful ending to the song.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan January 6 Champion, Friday Winner

She sang Alicia Keys’ “Girl On Fire” hoping to keep her title as Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s defending champion. And the winner is — still defending champion Maria Panaligan with an average score of 91.2 percent. This is Maria’s third win on the show, two more and she becomes one of the semi-finalists.
