POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG RECAP: Tawag Ng Tanghalan is just full of surprises. On Saturday, Maria Panaligan fought hard for her fourth win. Unfortunately, the road ended for Maria as new defending champion Julia Faith Joaquin took the “golden mikropono” from her. Will Julia win today’s battle and get her second win?

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Semi Finalists Froilan, Hazelyn, Sam And Jeramie TNT

Today, semifinalists Froilan, Hazelyn, Sam Mangubat and Jeramie make appearances on the show. The four powerhouse vocalists sang “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye. Fans got to hear the powerful voices of Jeramie and Hazelyn, Froilan’s signature falsetto voice and of course Sam Magubat’s voice and charisma on stage.

The semi-finalists also gave TNT online fans a treat with other performances. Hazelyn sang Adele’s hit “Hello” for fans. Hazelyn and Jeramie Sanico join TNT online hosts. Hazelyn still works at a comedy bar while Jeramie is busy with studies. Jeramie sang “If I Ain’t got You” for fans online as well.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Jan 9 Performances

Sixteen-year-old Melanie Guverra from Pasig City was the first challenger on stage. Melanie had a tough time in her young years and is now adjusting in a new school. Ever since Melanie and her friend met a motor bike accident, she made a pact to be different and do better.

Melanie sang Beyonce’s hit song “Halo” but unfortunately Hurado Rey Valera  signaled for the gong. It was her shake-y voice and flat notes that gave it away according to hurado Louie Ocampo. Nevertheless, the judges encouraged her and said at her young age she can still prepare.

Alyssa Ashley Pangan from Lipa, Batangas took the stage hoping that the gong would take a break as she sang “Follow Your Dreams.” Alyssa is an only child and spends her extra time singing in her room or taking photos. At a young age at 14, she dreams of becoming a famous singer someday.

Unfortunately for her, hurado Rey Valera also signaled for the gong. It was the pressure from the first contender that may have affected her performance and made her extra nervous according to hurado Rey.

Dionisio Cabalan Jr. is a miner from Agusan del Norte was the last contender on stage. Dionisio is a single guy who dreams of having a life with his future wife. He also wants to put a resto-bar for his family. Unfortunately also for Dionisio, he got the gong as well. Hurado Rey Valera and Erik Santos both said he had flat notes from the get go.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Jan 9 Champion, Monday Winner

This was a bit of a surprise since all three contenders are automatically disqualified from the show. This is the first time since Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s first airing in January last year. This automatically means defending champion Julia Faith Joaquin gets her second win. Julia still sang her heart out even if she knows she already won the battle. She sang Barbra Streisand’s hit song, “People.” Hopefully, tomorrow’s contenders will be better.
