POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: Aila Santos continued to amaze the Tawag Ng Tanghalan judges as she took on a Mariah Carey hit “Hero” on Saturday’s episode. Aila won over daily winner Argenpy Ramos with an average score of 94.2 percent and got her fifth win. This earned Aila a spot on TNT’s semi-finals. Aila is the first lady to join the batch of TNT’s semi-finalists this year. Aila decided to move on in the competition and is now on to her sixth win on Tawag Ng Tanghalan July 24 episode.
Tawag Ng Tanghalan July 24 performances, daily winner, and champion
First contender, Carlo Bautista. Carlo loves writing songs and dreams of becoming a renowned songwriter in the Philippines someday. He has produced his own album with stage name Rico Bautista. Rico was the name of his father who passed away because of diabetes. His mom, on the other hand, is a cancer survivor and that has been Carlo’s driving force ever since. If he wins, he would put up his own recording studio and of course help his mom out. Carlo “Rico” sang Coldplay’s “Nobody Said It Was Easy.”
Judge Billy Crawford said Carlo’s voice was astig and very soothing. It was simple but was very easy to the ears. His only comment was his connection with the audience. Judge Louie Ocampo said if Carlos’ songs are as good as his voice and Rey Valera’s songs then he will surely make it in the industry. He just advised him to relax more the next time he
Second contender, Lovely Dionisio. Lovely from Laguna joins TNT for her only daughter. She does everything she can to give the best for her despite the fact that she’s physically weak due to a hip bone surgery. Lovely works as a singer at bars and hotels. She also sells clothes and shoes online and now joins TNT singing “If You Ask Me To” by Celine Dion.
Head judge Rey Valera said Lovely had a couple of flat notes but said she showed her sweet side and connected well with the audience. Judge Rey also loved Lovely’s image on stage and just wished her luck.
Third contender, Yonnie Bronda. Yonnie from Negros Occidental has been a fisherman for 10 years now. If at times it wasn’t enough for his family, he works as a choreographer, singer for different occasions, and joins amateur singing contests to get by. His only dream is for his kids to finish studies. Yonnie sang “Nandito Ako” by Ogie Alcasid” with much passion and sincerity.
Judge Jed Madela loved how Yonnie connected with the audience as soon as he started. True enough Jed called his performance sincere while Judge K Brosas said he had charm on stage and said the judges really loved his voice.
TNT July 24 daily winner, face-off and champion. Tawag Ng Tanghalan July 24 daily winner is contender from Visayas, Yonnie Bronda. He won over the two other contenders with a score of 92.6 percent.
For the face-off, Yonnie sang “Di Na Natuto” by Gary Valenciano while six-time defending champion and semi-finalist Aila Santos sang Whitney Houston’s “Didn’t We Almost We Have It All.”
The judges have come to a decision. Tawag Ng Tanghalan July 24 champion is Aila Santos garnering an average score of 95.4 percent.
