On Tawag Ng Tanghalan June 13 episode, the first defending champion for TNT regular, John Mark Saga, fights for his second win. It’s good to have Judge Rey Valera and Gongsilor Jhong back on the show. Will John Mark remain as defending champion, or will the title go to a new contender? Tawag Ng Tanghalan June 13 performances and champion First contender, Muffet Tan. Originally from Iligan City, Marifel or Muffet is a voice teacher by day and the band vocalist of Muffet And The Spiders by night. Although she already lives a comfortable life, her love for music brought her to hotels and bars in Novaliches, Manila hoping to get a big break and become a famous singer. Muffet sang “Superwoman” by Karyn White showing off her vocal skills which is a product of her love for music and her years of experience. Judge Karylle likes how much personality Muffet has on stage. She was impressed by her vocal techniques and how she played a bit with her vocal riffs. Judge Yeng called Muffet “astig” and commended her for having her own identity as a musician and even called her performance “magic.” Second contender, Zacarias Lanojan. This farmer from Cebu is a father of three. His primary livelihood is to raise chickens, goats, and grow corn and coconuts. He uses his God-given talent in singing to earn extra income for his family through joining singing contests and even “doble karas.” Now, Zacarias takes the TNT stage singing “Esparanza” by April Boy Regino. His love for his family reflects his love for his family. Zacarias gave it his all hoping to impress the judges. Song choice was a bit of an issue for head Judge Rey Valera. He said that since he sang an April Boy song, it would have been better for him to stick with the original arrangement. But when it came to audience impact, Valera said he would give him a thumbs up. He also called Zacarias charming and kind-hearted. Third contender, Kristine Cena. Kristine is a fighter who loves her family so much. Her dad makes and sells kaong for a living. Ever since her mother had psoriassis, she took it upong herself to help out. She’s been joining singing and beauty contests and helping her parents raise her younger sibling. This grade 12 student from Digos City Kristine sang Angeline Quinto’s hit, “Kunin Mo Na Ang Lahat Sa Akin.” Her powerful voice says it all and her love for family pushed her more to give the performance that might just change her life. Kristine’s low notes were what Judge K Brosas liked very much next to her confidence. All in all, it was a great performance. Contrary to what K Brosas said, Judge Louie Ocampo said Kristine’s low notes weren’t that good. He said Kristine’s first line was not that impressive but she was able to do better towards the middle.
