POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG: It is make or break for 4-time defending champion John Mark Saga. On Tawag Ng Tanghalan June 16 episode, John fights for his fifth win which will automatically make him the first semi-finalist for TNT Season 2 regular edition. TNT Performances, face-off, daily winner, and champion

First contender, Charmaine Bayawan. Charmaine has been joining singing contests in different countries since she was 19. She stayed in Korea for a time and impressed the judges then. But this time, she’s not doing it just for herself. This singer from Las Pinas is doing it for her half-Filipino half-Korean only daughter. She sang “Try It On My Own” by Whitney Houston.

Second contender, Jerson Consulta. Jerson is a dreamer. Joining TNT for him is a step towards reaching his goal of becoming a famous singer. For him, it is also the answer to all his needs and an answer to poverty. Jerson was a sugar cane farmer when he was 19. Then he discovered he loves singing. Because of need, he became a houseboy, delivery boy, and now a janitor. Singing on stage for him his representing all janitors who have the talent in singing. He sang “Labanan Natin Ang Tukso.”

Judge Rey Valera just commented on the way Jerson held his mic. He said it was a bit too far which affected his overall performance. Valera added that he was such a lovable person and hopes that it could be used to his advantage in this competition.

Third contender, Kenneth Tadong. This singer from Davao City gave up his dreams too soon to become his family’s bread winner. Kenneth loved his family so much that he quit singing to work as call center agent. His mom is a housewife and his father is a retired Army who is currently sick. He had to stop school to work and give way for his sister to finish his studies. For Kenneth, it is now his time. He now takes the TNT stage singing Bruno Mars’ hit, “Versace On The Floor.”

Judge K Brosas said if ever Kenneth would be today’s daily winner it would really be a battle to watch out for.

TNT June 16 daily winner, face-off, and champion. Today’s daily winner is contender from Mindanao, Kenneth Tadong garnering an average score of 92 percent. Kenneth will face defending champion Kenneth who is now on to his fifth win. Who wins this face-off?

Daily winner Kenneth sang “Let’s Stay Together” pulling off that groove by Al Green. Four-time defending champion John Mark sang “Somewhere” by Barbra Streisand.

It was a close fight and a tough one for the judges today. Kenneth and John Mark had a tie score. Judge Rey Valera urged the contender who lost to join TNT again in the future.

Today’s champion with an average score of 94 percent is–John Mark Saga. This is John Mark’s fifth win. He is now the first semi-finalist of TNT Season 2 regular edition. He decided to move on with the competition and battle other contenders until someone would replace him.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan airs Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN at noon.
