Tawag Ng Tanghalan June 22 Live Blog: Maria Diana Agustin Goes For Second Win

POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG: Maria Diana Agustin is the new defending champion of Tawag Ng Tanghalan. Maria overthrew 3-time defending champion Joel Delalamon on yesterday’s episode singing “When You Tell Me That You Love Me.” Click here to read a recap of June 21 episode. On Tawag Ng Tanghalan June 22 episode, Diana will fight for her second win. Will she succeed?

TNT June 22 Performances, daily winner, and champion

First contender, John Mark Zafe. John from Tondo, Manila is motivated by his love for his dad and brother who both passed on. His dad suffered from kidney stones and died in 2009 while his brother suffered colon cancer and passed on two yearas ago. Since then, John’s love for singing seemed to pass away as well. He takes the TNT stage for his brother and father singing “Exchange Of Hearts.” He gave it his best but it seemed his health took the best of him. Judge Ogie noticed he had a hard time and had to signal for the gong.

As soon as Jhong sounded the gong, John was a bit relieved and had a feeling that he would somehow get the gong. Ogie said he thinks John had a very good voice but saw that he wasn’t in tip-top shape for today’s performance. So instead of prolonging his suffering, he had to signal for the gong. Judge Yeng also said John had a very big potential and hopes he could join audition sometime soon again. Judge K Brosas agreed with Ogie’s move that the gong had to be sounded as well to relieve John. Unfortunately, John is automatically disqualified from the show.

Second contender, Nikki Apolinar. Nikki likens her life to a movie with much drama and calls it intense. This singer hasn’t met her biological dad and her stepfather left them as well. This doesn’t stop her, her mother, and her sister from enjoying life. This singer from Lapu-Lapu is into photography, drawing, playing the guitar, and of course singing. Even if some people say she’s not that good of a singer, she muscles up the strength to take on Adele on the TNT stage and sang “All I Ask.”

Judge Ogie said he was about to signal for the gong. Although he said Nikki had the voice it needs a little polishing. Low registers are very good but high notes need improvement.

Third contender, Rommel Enoc. Rommel is a durian farmer and has been for the last 10 years. This father of five from Davao City also works as a welder. Working as a farmer and a welder is what supports his family. Singing, on the other hand, is his dream. He has been joining amateur singing contests longer before he became a farmer. He takes a step closer to his dream and sings “I Know” by Tom Jones for all farmers in their community.

Judge Mitoy congratulated Rommel on a job well done. He called him a veteran singer and saw how confident he was on stage. Judge Karylle liked the huskiness of Rommel’s voice. She liked the fact that he sang an old song but was able to bring out a sexy rocker vibe.

TNT June 22 daily winner, face-off, and champion. Who is today’s daily winner? Is it Nikki or Rommel? Garnering an average score of 92.4 percent, daily winner is Rommel Enoc. Rommel will face new defending champion Maria Diana Agustin who fights for her second win.

For the face-off daily winner Rommel sang “Puppy Love” while defending champion Diana sang “I Will Always Love You.” Two flawless performances but who will the judges choose?

TNT June 22 champion is Maria Diana Agustin with an average score of 94.8 percent.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan airs Mondays to Saturdays on It’s Showtime on ABS-CBN at noon.
