1st Contender, Dustin sings Daniel Padilla hit

Dustin Gipala from Quezon City was first to take the stage. Dustin is a 12-year-old who is not like other kids nowadays. He takes the time to make ends meet for his family by selling some products in their barangay. His mom works as a janitor at a call center company and he said if he wins the show, he wants to help his mom and his family. Dustin sang “Simpleng Tulad Mo” by Daniel Padilla.

On a side note, Vice Ganda was so touched by the story of Dustin and by the mere fact that his mom is putting Dustin to school through working as a janitress. She reminded Vice of her own mom who works as a caregiver abroad. To his performance, Judge Jaya and Judge Erik said his performance was not perfect but called his voice “very now.”

2nd Contender, John sings Drag Me Down

Eight-year-old John Clifford Pagal from Cebu was the next contender. John loves singing when he plays with other kids. That’s when his mother found out he can actually sing. His father works as a welder in Japan and he dedicates his performance to his father singing “Drag Me Down” by One Direction.

Head Judge Louie Ocampo liked John’s charisma and charm on stage. He added he noticed that John was in a hurry and went on ahead of his song when he started but he was able to finish strong.

Lady takes on Kitchie Nadal song

Contender from Surigao del Norte, Lady Arianne Omas-as, was the last contender of the day. Lady is 11 years old. She is an A student and quite the musician. She plays the guitar and the piano as well. Lady dreams of becoming a great and famous singer someday. She sang Kitchie Nadal’s “Bulong.”

Judge Jolina complimented Lady on her beauty and her personality and said that she had the groove. Overall, she as very happy with her performance. Judge Jed said Lady reminded her of Yeng Constantino who happens to be one of Lady’s musical influence.

Tawag Ng Tangahalan Kids April 19 Winner

After much thought, the judges have decided that today’s daily winner garnering an average score of 91.8 percent is Lady Arianna Omas-as. Lady will be facing 2-time defending champion Reign Basa during the battles.

Lady sang “Pagsubok” bringing out her rocker vibe while Reign went with a much more mellow tone singing “Inseparable” by Natalie Cole. Who won this battle?

Garnering an average score of 95.8 percent, today’s winner is Reign Basa. This is Reign’s third win, two more and she makes it to the semi-finals.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids airs Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN at noon.
