POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: On Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids April 21, new defending champion Kiefer Sanchez tries to get his second win. On yesterday’s episode, ex-defending champion Reign Basa was on to her fourth win when 12-year-old Kiefer from Davao swept everyone off their feet singing “Puppy Love” with that big smile on his face. Kiefer won over Reign with an average score of 95.4 percent. Click here to read a recap of yesterday’s episode.
1st Contender, Franchesca sings Adele Hit
Franchesca Nicole Encinares from Manila was first on stage stage. Other than singing, this 10-year-old loves making videos and posting them online. She hopes she could make a viral video someday and get a break on the internet. Franchesca sang Adele’s “Hello.”
Judge Karylle commented on her song choice and said it would have been better to hear her sing a song more appropriate for her age. But overall, she did a good job. Judge Jed Madela said he enjoyed Franchesca’s performance and liked the range of her voice.
2nd Contender, Cassandra sings Regine Velasquez Hit
Cassandra Asley Casimiro from Bulacan was the next contender on stage. Twelve-year-old Cassandra is part of thenschool choir and is numne rone when it comes to chess. She as singing since she was five, and began joining contests when she was 12. Cassandra sang “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw” written by Ogie Alcasid and interpreted by Regine Velasquez. Fun fact, this was the first song Ogie made for Regine.
Head Judge Ogie Alcasid said Cassandra was meant to shine which is also the meaning of her name. Ogie commented on how she held the mic which somehow affected the volume of her voice during her performance. Overall, she still did a good job.
3rd Contender, Libby Gaiel sings Sarah Geronimo Hit
Twelve-year-old Libby Gaiel Tan from Cebu was the last contender. Libby is the jack of all trades. She does badminton, modelling, dancing, acting and of course singing. She looks up to Sarah Geronimo and even sang one of the songs she popularized, “Pangarap Na Bituin.”
Judge Kyla said she loved the texture of Libby’s voice but said she lacked the emotion of the song. Kyla said she had many time to gain experience on that aspect but said she had a very good voice.
Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids April 21 Winner
Thursday winner who got an average score of 91.4 percent is Cassandra Asley Casimiro. Cassandra will battle new defending champion Kiefer Sanchez.
For the battles, Cassandra sang “Somewhere” by Barbra Streisand while Kiefer Sanchez sang “Blue Bayou.”
The winner of today’s battle is Kiefer Sanchez garnering an averafe score of 93.2 percent.
Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids airs Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN at noon.
