Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids June 7 performances, Semi-finals day 3 winner
First contender, Sheena Bellarmino. Sheena’s voice has personality and had a wide range according to the judges. They challenged Sheena by giving her a song with a variety of low and high notes. “Stone Cold” by Demi Lovato was the judges’ song choice. Sheena was so happy to find out she was singing something familiar to her. She did not disappoint and she seemed to exceed the judges’ expectations. Each of them were cheering her on while she was singing and had each of the judges on their feet upon hitting her last note. Just wow!
Kayla said she and the judges were very happy and said Sheena deserved a standing ovation and more. Kyla was at loss for words while trying to express her thoughts. Sheena knew who she was as an artist and was seen through her confidence on stage.Judge Yeng said she believes with all her heart that Shena can be a superstar.
Second contender, John Jamiel Convicto. The judges know that John Jamiel has gone through a lot in his life. They wanted to choose a song that could challenge John in relaying the message of a certain song to his audience. “Scars To Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara was the judges’ choice for him. The song was a bit challenging for John since it wasn’t that familiar to him but that did not stop him from giving his best. Thanks to his dad who had his back, John’s hard work paid off and his performance got Judge Yeng on her feet.
Judge Karylle chose John’s song. She thanked John that he took the challenge of singing a song that she thinks would inspire many people. Judge Yeng saw from the get go that John was nervous but was happy to know that at a very short time he was able to learn the song. This only proves that John was a versatile performer and said he was ready for the music industry.
Third contender, Sidro Quilicol. “Kastilyong Buhangin” by Basil Valdez was the judges’ choice for Sidro. Sidro’s grandparents said he wasn’t able to sleep because he had to work on memorizing the lyrics of the song. The challenge for Sidro was for him to focus more on his voice and less on the movements he does on stage. Sidro is Sidro, and the way he moves on stage is already a trademark for him. He was such a charmer on stage and singing one of Basil Valdez’s hits just added to that level of charm.
Judge Jed Madela said old songs were Sidro’s cup of tea so they gave him a Basil Valdez hit that have challenging low notes. It is really difficult to sing and execute these notes but Judge Jed said he was able to do it, although not really really well. He said Sidro still had the moves he usually does on stage and admitted it was really part of who his character is on stage.
Fourth contender, Shaina Mae Allaga. Shaina was very happy to know she was singing Celine Dion’s hit, “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now.” The judges wanted to challenge Shaina to bring out a different side of her particularly the kind of “angas,” rocker vibe, or a stronger personality in her singing. Shaina did indeed bring justice to Celine Dion’s hit giving it all she’s got in every note she sang.
Jed Madela chose the song because of the character of Shaina’s voice. Judge Louie Ocampo said Shaina did deliver. He loved the quality of Shaina’s voice saying it was for recording quality. Judge Yeng congratulated Shaina for a job well done
