Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids June 8 Performances, Semi-Finals Day 4 winner
First contender, John Ramirez. The judges called John a “biritero” and wanted to give him something iconic and a bit closer to the masses. The challenge was for John to control his high-range voice and use it in a song that was a bit contained in terms of structure. “Somewhere” by Barbra Streisand was the judges choice for John. He took the challenge of singing a song that was meant for a female’s voice and certainly did justice to an iconic song.
Judge Jed Madela congratulated John for a job well done and said he kept the judges on the edge of their seats all throughout. He applauded John for executing his notes well although there were some low notes that weren’t that clear. Judge Yeng was a bit worried that he sang in a pitch that was a bit too high for him but was happy to see John finish well.
Second contender, Kiefer Sanchez. Kiefer was a bit hesitant when he received the judges’ choice for him.”Music and Me” by Micheal Jackson wasn’t a familiar song for him. The judges wanted Kiefer to take a song that was in his range. The challenge was for Kiefer to put his own mark or style in the song and make it his. Kiefer indeed made a mark and made it his smiling all throughout his performance.
A standing ovation for Kiefer! All of the judges were on their feet as Kiefer ended with his last note. Judge Kyla loved Kiefer’s version and acknowledged his effort in learning a song that he didn’t know. Judge Louie was thoroughly satisfied with his performance that he didn’t have any negative comment about it.
Third contender, John Clyde Talili. “Kontesero” was a word that the judges used to describe TNT’s first semi-finalist, John. The judges know that John Clyde sings high notes effortlessly. They wanted to choose something that was out of his comfort zone and challenged him to use his high-ranged voice in that genre. “Keep Holding On” by Avril Lavigne was the judges’ choice for John. From the get go, one would have goosebumps to John’s performance since it was a bit unexpected for a kid like him to sing a song so well.
Future star of Mindanao says judge Karylle. She shared Kyla described John’s performance as brilliant while judge Louie said “markang marka” saying he was spot on in all of his notes. Yeng loved John’s character on stage and even noticed how he let a mistake slide without even being noticed. Apparently, John mixed the lyrics a bit in his performance.
