Yesterday, Sidro Quilicol earned a spot in the semi-finals as he beat daily winner Jhienly Torredes. Click here to read a recap of yesterday’s episode. Who will be the next defending champion? Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids May 10 Performances First contender, Rivers Paulino. Kiddie contender from Manila Rivers is the first to take the stage. This nine-year-old is the daughter of an accountant who loves music and an animator. She got the love for music from her father and love for the arts from her mother. She loves singing, drawing, playing the keyboard and making comic strips. For Rivers’ performance, she sang “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing” by Stevie Wonder. Judge Billy Crawford said Rivers sang a challenging song but because of her enthusiasm, energy, and voice projection, she was able to pull off a good performance. Judge Nyoy was thoroughly pleased with Rivers’ performance. He said she was able to communicate the song well to the audience. Second contender, Jomarie Veralde. Twelve-year-old contender from Quezon, Jomarie, was next. Jomarie and his brother both compete in singing contests and most of the time, Jomarie wins. His father sells “pares” at a home nearby and that’s how his family gets by. Jomarie watches TV and sings karaoke only through their neighbor since they don’t own one. He now sings “Ibong Ligaw” hoping to win and buy a TV and a sound system for his family. Head Judge Yeng Constantino saw Jomarie was a fighter. She said he had a good voice but advised him to work more on his low notes. Third contender, Clyde Vance Lomotos. Clyde is originally from Cebu but now lives at a studio in Quezon City because of an opportunity. This 11-year-old went viral because of a video of him singing in a jeepney. Someone advised them to go to Manila to get voice training and now he takes the stage of TNT singing, “One Day.” He dedicates his performance to his supportive father and mother who just came out of an operation. Chill and effortless were the words Judge K Brosas used to describe Clyde’s voice. She said he had the raw talent and was able to get the reggae vibe of the song. Fourth contender, Reybea Pera. Eleven-year-old kiddie contender from Zamboanga City was the last contender. Reybea is very close to her father, a marine who is stationed in Sultan Kudarat. She preoccupies herself with her singing and helping out her mother selling street food.”Dancing Queen” was Reybea’s piece for today. Judge Yeng said Reybea had a powerful voice but noticed she thinking too much and wasn’t able to connect with the audience. Other than that, she was able to do a good job. TNT Kids Wednesday winner. Four kiddie contenders gave their best and fought for the title “defending champion” but there can only be one winner. The new defending champion garnering an average score of 92 percent is contender from Visayas is–Clyde Vance Lomotos.
