Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids May 16 Performances, Tuesday winner, and champion

First contender, Angeline Grace Cuevas. Angeline is 8-year-old kiddie contender from Sta. Mesa, Manila. Her mother is a stay-at-home mom while her father, a retired tractor operator. They both support Angeline in pursuing her dreams of becoming a singer and actress someday. She’s joined acting workshops and hopes to be like her idol Julia Montes someday. “Lift Up Your Hands” by Basil Valdez was Angeline’s piece for today.

Judge Billy Crawford said it would be helpful for Angeline to do workshops in singing just to develop more of her vibrato. But nonetheless, she was able to give a great performance. Judge Jaya said Billy was right when he said Angeline was able to execute her notes well and seconded the idea of joining more workshops.

Second contender, Marianne Matugas. Soon to be singing and dancing chef Marianne from Quezon was next on stage. This 12-year-old kiddie contender learned how to cook when she was just nine years old. She’s has joined singing contests before and owes her passion for singing to her father and grandmother. Marianne sang “Tupad Na Pangarap” by Camille Santos hoping to impress the judges.

Head judge Ogie Alcasid called Marianne a good singer and said she was able to communicate the song well with her voice and the emotion the song demanded.

Third contender, Kevin Cleford Ranin. Kiddie contender from Bohol, Kevin or KC, was the last contender of the day. This 12-year-old is a green thumb. He loves taking care of plants but not as much as how he loves singing. His mom and family support his dream of becoming a famous singer someday. “Isang Lahi” was Kevin’s piece for today.

Judge Jed Madela thoroughly enjoyed KC’s performance and said he was precise with his notes. He advised KC to be mindful of how he uses the microphone. Jed also advised him to take more voice lessons and join more contests since experience is always key to improvement. Judge Kyla agreed with Jed and said she also enjoyed KC’s performance.

TNT Kids May 16 face-off, daily winner, and champion. Out of three kiddie contenders, Marianne Matugas from Luzon is declared as Tuesday winner. Marianne will face 4-time defending champion Francis Concepcion who now fights for his fifth win and a spot in the semi-finals.
