POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG: On Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids May 19 episode, two-time defending champion Kurt Laput fights for his third win. This takes him 3 steps closer to a spot in the semi-finals. Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids May 19 performances, daily winner, and champion

First contender, Roanna Isaiah Hemor. This 11-year-old kiddie contender from Sta. Mesa, Manila comes from a family of singers. Roanna stays with her mom since her dad works as an electrician in Saudi. She and her siblings often join singing contests. Thanks to her brother, she is inspired day by day to become better. Roanna sang Basil Valdez’s “Ngayon At Kailanman” hoping to impress the judges.

Judge K Brosas said Roanna’s voice was very powerful and called her a real “biritera.” From the get go, she already showed the judges what she can do. Judge Erik Santos liked how powerful and thick Roanna’s voice was. He appreciated how she changed a bit of the vocal riffs and how she retained some of the original riffs as well.

Second contender, Jasmine Joy Cielo. Kiddie contender from Basco, Batanes, Jasmine, took on UDD’s “Tadhana.” This 10-year-old loves drawing but not as much as singing. When not hitting the books, she helps out in their family business, a sari-sari store.

Song choice was an issue for head judge Ogie Alcasid. He said it wasn’t that appropriate for Jasmine’s age and he advised her to explore more on songs that are friendly for kids.

Third contender, James Laurence Anadia. Eleven-year-old kiddie contender from Bohol serves as an altar boy in their church. Singing is sort of like a bonding for him and his mom. James sang “If I Sing You A Love Song” by Bonnie Tyler hoping to make it as today’s daily winner.

Chill, clean, pleasant, and relaxed were the words judge Jed Madela used to describe James’ performance. Jed advised him to join more singing contests to further develop his voice and his stage presence. Judge Karylle agreed with Jed and added James was a good story teller whenever he sings.

TNT Kids May 19 face-off, Friday winner, and champion. Roanna, Jasmine, and James gave it their all but there can only be one Friday winner. Contender who will face defending champion Kurt Laput is Roanna Isaiah Hemor.

Friday winner Roanna sang “My Love Will See You Through” while Kurt sang “Ikaw Ang Pangarap.”

Today’s champion garnering an average score of 94.8 percent is Kurt Arvie Laput.This is Kurt’s third win, two more and he makes it to the semi-finals.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan airs Mondays to Fridays on ABS-CBN at noon.
