POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG: Kiddie contender from Cavite John Jamiel Convicto is the new defending champion. This 11-year-old is now on to his second win on Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids May 23 episode. Yesterday, he won over ex-defending champion Althaea Denise Oredina with an average score of 92.2 percent. Althea was fighting for her second win at that time. Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids May 23 performances, daily winner, and champion

First contender, Xieulien Fransisco. Ten-year-old Xieulien is kiddie contender from Caloocan City. Xieulien loves playing the violin and does well at school. Her dad is a part-time musician while her mom was a former band vocalist. No wonder this kid loves music! As early as two years old she can already carry a tune. Xieulien sang “Hindi Ko Na Kayang Masaktan Pa” by Ogie Alcasid.

“Okay!”says judge Jaya and was happy to know that Xieulien can play the violin. Vocal control was a strength she had and was able to play with some of her falsetto voice. Judge Louie said it was a very good performance and that being a musician works to her advantage.

Second contender, Mary Julia Pendijito. Kiddie contender from Bohol is nine-year-old Mary Julia. Mary’s dream is to become a singer and a policewoman. She dreams to serve and protect her family and others someday. Thanks to Mary’s father and regular practice in the videoke, she is able to improve on her singing every day. “Iingatan Ka” by Carol Banawa was Mary’s song choice today.

Head Judge Yeng Constantino loved how confident Mary was on stage even at a very young age. She advised her to practice and work more on her singing which will go well with her confidence soon.

Third contender, Novejean Gilbaliga. Future singing flight attendant is kiddie contender Novejean from Zamboanga del Sur. Novejean is independent, responsible, and reliable when it comes to school and house work. Reaching her dreams will not be hard since she’s motivated at a young age. Novejean sang “I Can” by Donna Cruz for today’s performance.

Judge K Brosas said Novejean chose a challenging song which affected her performance. Judge Billy agreed with K Brosas and advised her to practice more.

TNT Kids faceoff, daily winner and champion. After three performances, kiddie contender from Caloocan City Xieulien Fransisco was named as Tuesday winner getting an average score of 89.2 percent.

Xieulien sang “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin” while defending champion John Jamiel sang “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin.” Two songs sang by Martin Nievera but who wins this battle?

The judges have decided, today’s champion garnering an avergae score of 93 percent is  John Jamiel Convicto. This is John’s second win on the show. Three more and he makes it to the semi-finals.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Kids airs Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN at noon.
