Here is a recap of Tanghalan resbak episode on Friday. (UPDATE: And the ultimate resbak winners are Froilan Canlas and Rachel Gabreza.)

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Ultimate Resbak Winners Are –

Quarter 4 semifinalists Froilan Canlas and Jex De Castro are among the four contestants vying for votes to make it to Tawag Ng Tanghalan Grand Finals Week from March 7. A week ago, they were beaten by Sam Mangubat and Carlmalone Montecido. Read last weekend’s Tanghalan recap here. Two slots are still open for next week. Will they make it?

In Showtime’s opening, Vice Ganda and the hosts were able to speak to PBB Lucky Season 7 teen housemates. Maymay, Edward, Yong, McCoy, Nikko, Cora, Tanner and Kisses were all in high spirits during the short chat and banter. Even Kuya himself joined in the fun. The Big Night begins Saturday night, live on ABS-CBN. Who will be the big winner? Read Popcorn’s latest PBB Lucky 7 recap here.

Later, Ryan Bang revealed that My Ex and Whys has so far earned P341 million in the box office. The movie starring Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, otherwise known as Lizquen, premiered in cinemas on Valentine’s Day.

Before the first commercial break, Martin Nievera ald Lani Misalucha performed on It’s Showtime. The two have a series of shows in the Philippines and overseas. They have a repeat of Masquerade on March 11 at Solaire.

After commercials, Argentina bacon in can endorser Maja Salvador joins Amy Perez and Vhong Navarro on stage for a dance number to a series of tunes, including Ed Sheeran’s A Shape Of You.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan March 4 Ultimate Resbak Performances

The grand finalists from the Ultime Resbak week will be based on madlang people text votes (Tawag [name], send to 2366) and hurado scores (headed by Ogie Alcasid this Saturday) are the basis for winner announcements. Billy Crawford, Kyla, Jaya and K Brosas are all hurados today.

Jex De Castro, Froilan Canlas, Dominador Alviola and Rachel Gabreza are now ready to perform their solo numbers. But before that, they all go on stage to sing Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now.

Froilan Canlas: Makita Kang Muli (Ebe Dancel, Sugarfree)

For his last chance to win public votes and the judges’ approval rating, Froilan Canlas of Camarines Sur sings Makita Kang Muli by Sugarfree. This ultimate resbaker from Luzon was the judges’ winner of last weekend’s Tawag Ng Tanghalan semifinals. Hurado Jaya says he could chill now. He has nothing left to prove. Nothing was wrong in his performance, as far as Jaya is concerned. Before the hurados’ turn, Vice Ganda and Froilan perform a creative musical duet of ‘Wag Mahihiyang Magtanong from the RiteMed advertisement, starring Susan Roces.

Jex De Castro: Lay Me Down (Sam Smith)

The ultimate resbaker from Manila, Jex De Castro takes on a Sam Smith song for his grand finals ticket. The judges are visibly impressed as Jex takes everyone on a journey through the highs and lows of Lay Me Down. Hurado Billy Crawford says Jex has a silky, dessert-like voice. He says Jex still managed to give a powerful performance. Before the hosts announced a commercial break, they reminded the viewers that voting lines are still open.

Rachel Gabreza: What About Love (Heart)

Known as sales diva of Makati City, Rachel has drawn solid praises for her numbers in Ultimate Resbak week. She gets a standing ovation from all hurados after singing Heart’s What About Love. Vice Ganda compares Rachel to Sarah Geronimo, who is generally shy when simply talking in regular conversations. But Rachel and Sarah get fierce and loud when it’s performance time. Hurado K Brosas says Rachel is a smart performer who understands the intricacies of her song. She adds that Rachel truly deserves to be in the grand finals.

Dominador Alviola: Kahit Isang Saglit (Martin Nievera)

Dominador Alviola Jr. a.k.a. Daddy D is one of Tawag Ng Tanghalan viewers’ early favorites. He joined the competition a year ago, making a mark on the show’s audience. His version of Martin Nievera‘s Kahit Isang Saglit was solid, compelling and emotional. Daddy D is the first contestant ever to make it to TNT semifinals. Hurado Kyla thinks Daddy D has a good sense of rhythm. His raspy tenor is also appealing for the judges.

Ogie Alcasid encourages everyone in the audience to give the four resbakers a standing ovation. He is visibly amazed by everyone’s performance for a slot in the grand finals. “Manalo man kayo o matalo,” the four of them should continue on their journey to be part of the country’s music industry. After Ogie gave his message, the voting lines were officially closed. The audience will soon find out the two winners of this week’s ultimate resbak round.

The Tawag Ng Tanghalan grand finalists  — Sam Mangubat, Carlmalone Montecido, Noven Belleza, Eumee Capile, Maricel Callo, Mary Gidget Dela Llana, Mariel Montellano and Pauline Agupitan — will soon have two new rivals for the huge grand finals week beginning March 7.
