POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG/RECAP: Tawag Ng Tanghalan March 9 is huling tapatan Day 4. Sam Mangubat, Eumee Capile, Mary Gidget Dela Llana and Marielle Montellano fight for a spot on Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s Top 5 Grand Finals. The big event happens in Resorts World Manila on Saturday, March 11.

On yesterday’s episode, Carl Malone Montecido joined the roster of the Top 5 grand finalists. He is the third addition after Novel Belleza and Froilan Canlas. Carl Malone got a total score of 91.40 percent singing Estudyante Blues. Click here to read a recap of yesterday’s episode.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan Huling Tapatan Day 4 Performances

Four finalists will fight for a spot on the Top 5 today. Total scores based on the texts and hurados’ votes will reveal the winner of today and will be named the third finalist. Voting lines will be opened after the finalists performances and will be closed at the signal of the hosts.

Mary Gidget Dela Llana Sings Lady Marmalade

Sta. Cruz, Laguna is celebrating the Anilag Festival today. During this festivity, they showcase the city’s best products and other things they are proud of. Today, they aren’t just celebrating a festival but they are also celebrating Mary Gidget’s success. Governor Ramil Hernandez  and members of the community of Sta. Cruz Laguna were live via streaming. Governor Ramil said, “Nandito kami lahat sa likod mo.”

Gidget sang Christina Aguilera’s hit, Lady Marmalade, giving an entertaining performance wearing an adorable high low red gown. Hurado Nyoy commented on her performance and said Gidget came ready for a war and showed grace under pressure. She was aable to show what she can do in this competition. Yeng says Gidget’s leverage is her appeal and her charm.

Eumee Capile sings Survivor by Destiny’s Child

Bulacenos from Maycauayan College continue to show support for their kababayan Eumee Capile via live stream. A fierce performance by Eumee as she sang and danced to Survivor by Destiny’s Child, a rather fitting song for the competition. Eumee wore a black and pink high low dress singing and fighting for her a spot on the Top 5.

After Eumee’s performance, Vice and Anne introduced an unexpected guest on the show, her mother. Eumee got to see her mother for two months because of some issues. Right in front of the TNT audience, they were able to speak and somehow patch things up. “You are a survivor and you deserve to be on top” says hurado Billy. He added Eumee was a contender that intimidated almost all performers because of her powerful voice. “Keep your feet on the ground” says hurado Jaya.

Sam Mangubat sings Kilometro by Sarah Geronimo

Barangay captain Rico Hernandez from Santo Tomas, Batangas and other Batangenos from the community were live via streaming to show support for Sam. Sam sang and danced to the beat of Kilometro by Sarah Geronimo. And note, he wasn’t wearing his signature bonet, again.

Sam Mangubat’s “angels” couldn’t help but shout and cheer after his performance. “Iba Ka” says hurado Jaya and added she saw a performer and not a contender today. “Rejoice, because today could be your day, wala ako makitang mali” added Jaya. Hurado Nyoy said Sam’s name is making noice both in popularity and ability. “You’re very very very good, Ngayon ka pinakamagaling, that was a flawless performance” says Nyoy.

Marielle Montellano sings Jessie J Domino

Edcel Montellano from a Tabogon Secondary school in Poblacion Tabogon, Cebu wished Marielle lots of luck together with hundreds of supporters via live stream. Marielle came out of a “Barbie” box labeled “Marielle” and sang Domino by Jessie J in a pink doll-like gown.

Hurado Yeng was suprised she was able to sing a song out of her comfort zone and said she was a bit worried. But Yeng said, “You pulled it off.” Yeng added her performance was effortless. Hurado Billy Crawford said, “Ang husay mo, ang linis ng pag kanta mo, effortless.”

Tawag Ng Tanghalan, How To Vote

Today, one contender will be chosen. Automatically, he or she will become one of those who will compete for the title on Saturday. The hurados are not the only ones who can judge the grand finalists’ performances. Fans can also vote for their favorite performers by simply texting TAWAG plus the name of their favorite semi-finalist (e.g. TAWAG MARIELLE) and send to 2366. Voting lines are now officially closed as of March 9, 3:00 p.m.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan March 8 Winner, Third Grand Finalist

Checked and verified by ABS-CBN internal audit, the graph of the final average score showed the total number of votes from the madlang people and hurados as follows: 98.70 percent, 64.66 percent, 63.30 percent and 51.69 percent.

The fourth spot for the grand finals joining Noven Bellezam Froilan Canlas and Carl Malone Montecido goes to– Sam Mangubat.
