POPCORN TIME LIVE BLOG RECAP: On November 23 “It’s Showtime” episode, Sam Mangubat kept his place as Tawag Ng Tanghalan’s defending champion. On November 24, he battled new contenders from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Sam won over daily winner Ricca Casipong. Sam is now in as a semi-grand finalist for Tawag Ng Tanghalan.

Tawag Ng Tanghalan November 24 Performances
First contender was Joie Delos Reyes from Sampaloc, Manila. Joie comes from a broken family. She had to quit school to work. Joie hopes to win Tawag Ng Tanghalan so she can go back to school and be a teacher someday. Joie sang “Time and Tide” by Basia. Hurado Jaya said she loved Joie’s voice and performance. Jaya said the judges just wanted a better song choice for her powerful voice. Hurado Louie Ocampo said it lacked the emotional expression.
Next on stage was ‘resbaker’ Peter Lubostro from Cebu. Peter is fourty-four years old. He joined the show on June 22 but wasn’t able to make it. He hopes to do better this time for his family. Peter sang “Always” by Marci Sison.
Last contender was Ricca Casipong. Rica is 16 years old and stopped school to help the family sell ‘balot’ and ‘penoy.’ She hopes to help more if she wins the contest. Ricca sang “Hanggang Ngayon” by Regine Velasquez.
Tawag Ng Tanghalan Daily Winner, Sam Mangubat Semi-Grand Finalist
Tawag Ng Tanghalan Thurday daily winner is Ricca Csipong with an average score of 90.2 percent. Ricca sang “How Could You Say You Love Me” to battle Sam Mangubat. Sam sang “Angels” by Robbie Williams.
Sam Mangubat wins today’s battle and makes it to the semi-grand finals garnering an average of 93.4 percent.
