Tawag Ng Tanghalan Oct 25, Semifinals Round 4

Remy Luntayao sings “Pangarap Na Bituin” by Sharon Cuneta. Remy comes from a family of singers and performers. They perform not just for entertainment but for survival. Each of them joins singing contests wherever possible and hope that they bring home a cash prize to survive the coming days. At one point, she and her siblings slept in a waiting shed before a competition because they had no extra money to spend. It became worse when their mom had stage 5 chronic kidney disease. Her performance is one she dedicates to her mom. Her brother and niece were both in the studio to support her today.

Judge K Brosas said this was Remy’s most laidback and calm performance. It wasn’t too much, it was just right. She loved her version very much and loved how simple it was. It featured her voice more than her dance moves.

Anton Antenorcruz sings “Tila” by Lanu Misalucha. Anton left his home for many years because of some issues. Since then he had to face challenges in life alone. He worked abroad for six years away from his family. He considers this one of the most difficult time in his life. All he wanted was to be reunited with his family and recently, it happened. He reconciled with his family and now he feels he can face anything because he is with his family. His mom, sister, and grandma were cheering him on while performing today.

Another standing ovation for Anton. To his performance, Judge Jaya said he had a great voice, he had great song choice, a great ability to tell a story and hold back emotions. She said, “You are ready for this. Stardom is in your hands.”

Mark Michael Garcia sings “Everything I Do, I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams. Mark lost his way and almost lost his family at one point. Working in Thailand away from his family was very challenging for him. Thanks to his friends, he was reminded of why he abroad in the first place. With all his weaknesses, his wife willingly accepted him. Now that they’re all together, he promises to fight for his family and do everything he can for them.

Judge Billy said Mark’s voice quality is beyond skillful and is for the international stage. “You’ve got everything you need for this industry,” says Billy. Voice, talent, and stage presence. Win or lose he will make it says, Billy.

Rico Garcia sings “Saan Ka Man Naroroon” by Ric Manrique Jr. Rico had a family before he met his partner. He and his wife had some issues and his wife decided to leave him. The sad part was, she took their two kids with her. Rico always have them in his heart and even if they are separated, he continues to work for them and hopes that he would be reunited with his kids one day.

A standing ovation from the judges for Rico as well. Head judge Rey Valera called Rico’s performance glorious. He saw how much life experience he had in his performance.

John Raymundo sings “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers. John did not give up even if people doubted his ability to provide for his family. Life was tough, but he rose up and overcame every challenge he faced. Being on TNT is something he is also doing not for himself alone but primarily for his family.

Judge Yeng said John had a very distinct style and sound. She said he always puts new flavor to his songs which can actually be a record in itself. This is his advantage. The only issue she had was the money note of the song (the high pitched note in “I need your love”) which he didn’t do in his performance.
