In the show, semifinalists took on the challenge that the judges gave them through Hurados Choice. Tawag Ng Tanghalan Oct 26 Hurados choice performances Judges chose “Kastilyang Buhangin” for Mark Michael Garcia. Mark’s performance was something out of his comfort zone. It wasn’t RnB or soul, it was a classic OPM hit. The judges seem to love his performance as they were smiling and nodding the whole time he was singing. Judge Erik Santos said Mark exceeded his expectations. Judges chose Aerosmith’s “Crying” for Rico Garcia. Rock is something challenging for Rico as he is used to big band and the oldies. Rico didn’t know the song at all when it was given to him but he took the challenge. Judge Billy knows this was very difficult for Rico and said he did like his performance and saw the effort he put into it. It wasn’t perfect but A for effort. Judges chose Air Supply’s “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” for Anton Antenorcruz. It is a fact that Anton has the voice and has the range for any type of genre. He is a balladeer and an RnB singer. The judges chose a song with a wider range to bring out more of what he can offer. Judge Yeng was so impressed at how Anton sang such a challenging song. He had charm, passion, and drive in delivering the song. Judges chose “Gano Kadalas Ang Minsan” for Remy Luntayao. A familiar song for Remy but not really a song that she usually performs for contests. That’s what the judges wanted. Something she’s never done before. So they went for a classic OPM hit. Judge K Brosas said the challenge was for her to tone down her powerful pipes. She said there was no problem with Remy’s performance but she wasn’t able to tone down. Other than, it was still a great performance. Judges chose “Macho Gwapito Daw Ako” for John Raymundo. The judges know for sure that John is a singer and performer and knows his identity in music. The challenge for John in this song was to put a touch of his style to a favorite OPM song. Judge Rey Valera said that he leaves the judging to the audience but he said he is confident that John would be one of the few who will survive the industry. Tawag Ng Tanghalan airs Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime at noon. Facebook Comments
