Tawag Ng Tanghalan sa Showtime contenders continue to surprise judges and the audience. Most of those who have joined the weeks show were seasoned entertainers trying to make it for the win. But as Kim continues to up his game, he has remained to be unbeatable. With a score of 96.4 percent on October 26 episode, he is still the defending champion. Will he still make it today? Will contenders be as good? better? or still a no match for Kim Mainit?
Tawag Ng Tanghalan October 27 Performances
First challenger on stage was ‘unica-diva’ Sharlene Casihan. Sharlene is 18 years old. She was raised by her mom and grandma. Sharlene sang Michael Martin Murphey’s “Maybe This Time.” Her version was close to Sarah Geronimo’s version but Sharlene was able to give twist to the hit song with her vocal riffs and transitions.
Hurado Yeng Constantino appreciated her dynamics and her voice control. She just advised Sharlene to watch out for her diction. Vice Ganda noticed her diction wasn’t really clear because her teeth were a bit crooked. Vice Ganda offered to help her. Sharlene was in tears because she was really happy. Nice one Vice! Hurado Mitoy agreed with Yeng and said he feels like Sharlene had more to offer.
Next on stage was 40-year-old Arlyn Remodo. Arlyn sang “Narito Ako” by Regine Velasquez. She started very strong but towards the middle she was a bit shaky with timing.

Unfortunately, ‘na-gong’ si Arlyn. Hurado Rey Valera and Mitoy gave her an advice on how she could keep her timing. She is automatically out of the competition.
On a side note, Arlyn’s husband was very supportive. He flew from Taiwan to watch his wife, and he said he really also wanted to audition for Tawag Ng Tanghalan. So, he sang a few lines on the show.
Last contender on the show was Zed Asuncion from Mindanao. Zed is 33 years old and is in the business of selling ‘order mo luto ko.’ He sang “No one Else Comes Close” by Joe. On a side note, Billy Crawford sang part of the song for the ‘madlang people’ after Zed sang.
Hurado Billy said, “Hangang hanga ako, ang galing mo.” He liked his version but said he had to be mindful of his lyrics. Hurado Billy added his performance was flawless. Hurado Nyoy said he also liked his voice.
Tawag Ng Tanghalan Thursday Daily Winner
Garnering an average of 92.4 percent, Thursday daily winner is Zed Asuncion. Kim Mainit is the 4-time defending champion for the show. If he wins the battle, Kim will be part of the semi-finals.
For the battle round Zed sang “Tuloy Pa Rin” by Side A. Four-time defending champion sang “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera hoping to keep his place. Zed Asuncion wins the battle with an average score of 93.6 percent, replacing Kim Mainit as defending champion.
