Tawag ng Tanghalan sa Showtime semi grand finalists were at their peak during the past days since Grand Finals is fast approaching. Early on this week they have been singing songs of their choice. Tawag ng Tanghalan October 7 episode brings them out of their comfort zones since it is ‘Hurados choice.’ That’s right! Semi-finalists have no choice but to give their best performance with a song that may be out of the their usual genres. Will they give justice to the judges song choice? So exciting!

Let’s take a look at how the semi finalists did on #TNTQ3HuradosChoice

Noven Belle from Negros Occidental was first to take the stage. He sang Rey Valera’s “Malayo pa ang Umaga.” This put a lot of pressure on Noven since it is the song written by one of the judges of Tawag ng Tanghalan. (pressure!) Noven said he wasn’t able to sleep well since the song was given to him knowing that Rey Valera will be in front of him when he sings the song.

After his performance, of course, Rey Valera himself gave his comments. Rey said he was worried that Noven sang in English but said song choice was great and that he sang better than Rey Valera. Well, Novenatics what do you think?

Next on stage was Rufino “Lucky” Robles. The judges gave him the song “Hanggang Ngayon” by Kayla, yes another judge. The song was meant to challenge Lucky’s falsetto voice.  True enough he was able to deliver even going one key higher towards the middle of the song.

After singing, Kayla gave none but positive comments. She said that what he did was very difficult but he was able to perform really well most especially when he hit those high notes. Apparently, his 10-year practice (a Tawag ng Tanghalan inside joke when Lucky said he prepared for the show for almost 10 years) paid off. Vice Ganda even said, “I’ve met a lot of contestants on this show, you deserve to be here.”

On a super happy note! Lucky took on the challenge of singing “Pagdating ng Panahon” impersonating Jaya, Regine Velasquez and Janno Gibbs. Cool!

Antonio Sabalza the “heart throb of senior citizens” took the stage with a song from Jaya, “Wala na bang Pagibig.” There was a touch of jazz at the beginning, but towards the chorus Jaya’s original pop version came out.

And yes you guessed it, Jaya gave her comments. She said, “What an honor to hear you sing on stage, your years hindi matatawaran, to join Tawag ng Tanghalan is such humility, we are honored to hear you sing, wala akong masabi. Pagpasok niyo parang kabado pero you owned it, very good arrangement, I hope you get more gigs!”

Next was a performance by Jennie Gabriel. The judges chose “Babalik ka Rin” written by one of the judges, Louie Ocampo. Since she is good at impersonating female artists, the judges gave her a male-ranged song.

During judges comment, Judge Louie said “I heard a female touch that I never expected to hear.” If I were an OFW, I would give anythiong to come home. “As soon as Jennie heard this she cried because she thought of her sister in Japan. Judge Louie further said, “You gave justice so the song and brought it to another level.” Congratulations Jennie!

Eumee Capile, the last performer who took the stage, was given the song “Pangako” written by Rey Valera made popular by pop singer Vina Morales. Eumee was able to give a sweet touch to the songs but still gave it a kick when she went a step higher towards the second part of the chorus. And that last note! (whoa)

To her performance, Judge Yeng said her high notes were beautiful and saw Eumee gave a new touch to the song which was “very surprising!” Rey Valera said, “It’s an honor to be a part of your life.” Eumeenatics were in the studio giving their full support.

On Saturday, October 8, semi-finalists will be singing a song about their life. Also, the audience will know who makes it to the grand finals. Well, who is your best bet? Comment below!
