Tawag Ng Tanghalan Sept 4 performances, daily winner, and champion
Contender from Albay, Joshua Madrid, sings “Di Na Natuto.” Joshua dreams of becoming more than just a phenomenal singer in the Philippines. He wants to have his own music studio and hopes to teach kids and keep them away from the streets. He is popular in his community because he usually joins singing contests and sings for events as well. Mark is now a senior high school student taking up arts and designs and majors in singing. He hopes that this would bring him closer to his dreams. All this not just for himself, but for his father who takes maintenance medicine for his heart.
To his performance, judge Karylle used three words to describe it: perfect, sweet, and “swabe.” Judge Mitoy said Joshua had a really cool voice.
Contender from Tacloban, Don Diaz, sings “Delilah” by Tom Jones. Tom Jones has been an OFW for 12 years now. He started as an impersonator and entertainer in Thailand, waiter, teacher, and eventually a general manager for a hotel and resort in the Caribbean. With all the years he’s spent abroad, he hopes to also have a career here in the Philippines. Now on a short vacation, he takes his chances joining TNT and dedicates his performance to his mom who passed away.
Head Judge Rey Valera said Don had a good voice and his performance was also good. His only comment was he was a bit but disconnected from the real message of the song. Rey said Mark was happy singing but the song was supposed to be a song of jealousy and hate.
Contender from Butuan, Ferlyn Baclayon, sings “Sayang Na Sayang” by Aegis. Ferlyn’s family had high hopes for her. Her mom wanted her to become a doctor someday. Things took a different turn when Ferlyn fell in love and got pregnant at a young age. Since then she had to support herself. She tried working in Manila but then returned to Mindanao shortly after. Fortunately, she was called for TNT auditions. Ferlyn takes the TNT stage hoping that this would be an opportunity for her to somehow make amends to her family most especially to her mom who recently had a stroke.
Judge Yeng Constantino said Ferlyn’s performance was so magnetic. She was impressed by how much energy she had at the start of the song and was surprised to see she had more to give by the middle to the end of the song. Judge Nyoy agreed with Yeng and said he was also impressed.
TNT Sept 4 daily winner, face-off, and champion. Tawag Ng Tanghalan Sept 4 daily winner winning with an average score of 93.6 percent is Ferlyn Baclayon.
For the face-off, daily winner Ferlyn Baclayon sang Fantasia’s “I Believe” with the same energy she had singing the Aegis hit. Three-time defending champion Mark Michael Garcia sang “Incomplete” by Sisqo.
Garnering an average score of 94.2 percent, Tawag Ng Tanghalan Sept 4 champion is Mark Michael Garcia. This is Mark’s fourth win on the show. One more win and he becomes a TNT semifinalist.
Tawag Ng Tanghalan airs Mondays to Saturdays on ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime at noon.
