In August, the “Shake it Off” singer pledged $1 million to the Louisiana Disaster Relief fund to help the state recover from a devastating flood that killed at least 13 people. Two months after, she split her donation and allocated to Convoy of Hope, The Life of a Single Mom and YWCA Greater Baton Rouge. The pop star also gave $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity and donated $50,000 to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.

In August, Swift told ET through a statement that she is making this donation recalling how her fans in Louisiana were very welcoming during her 1989 World Tour in 2015. She said, “We began the 1989 World Tour in Louisiana, and the wonderful fans there made us feel completely at home, The fact that so many people in Louisiana have been forced out of their own homes this week is heartbreaking.”

In YWCA Greater Baton Rouge’s website, CEO Dianna Payton expressed her gratitude to the pop star saying, “The generous donation from Taylor Swift could not have come at a better time for our organization, These funds will be put to great use as we continue working to restore our Early Head Start facility that was damaged during the historic flooding last month, and continue our critical work of providing access to high quality early childhood services.”

The Life of A Single Mom also gave a message to Taylor Swift through their website saying, “We are grateful to Taylor Swift for reaching out to help us ensure that no single mom walks alone during this very difficult time. The devastation across southeast Louisiana has been unbelievable. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve more single moms with this gift.”

While news broke out about Taylor Swift’s donation, there mixed reactions on Twitter. Some were very supportive and even said ‘if all rich people would donate, then the world would change.’

While others were please, some were a bit skeptic and discontented.
