Manila Fashion Festival

The 5-day designer-studded Manila Fashion Festival 2016 has begun at the Edsa Shangri-La unveiling its Spring/Summer collections for 2017. This semi-annual event pioneered by Art Personas will run until October 21 in celebration of the craftsmanship and vision of Philippine fashion including local art, talent and creativity. Also, on October 27, an event will be held in the New World Hotel showcasing a collaboration between the MFF and the Embassy of the Netherlands.

2.Fashion meets Gear: Designers wear the ‘Samsung Gear S3’ smartwatch

Innovation through gears and gadgets is definitely distinctly 21st Century Fashion. The Manila Fashion Festival brings in Samsung to pave the way for this as it brings in the Gear S3, Gear VR and Gear 360 as a trendsetting feature in experiencing the collections of both established and emerging designers.

3.Lourd Ramos x Aderans’ Hair Show launches Aderans Co., Ltd. Products

It is the hair the brings the flair. As Aderans products and services are introduced to the Philippine market through the partnership of MFF and Art Personas, the leading hair solution company will now be within the reach of every Filipina fashionista.

4.Fashion Meets Philanthropy through Bobson Japan Design Competition 

The search for the next young designer is on and Bobson Japan breaks ground in launching the first Manila Fashion Festival Design Competition. This year there are 15 designers who are up for the challenge to #RedefineDenim. The competition will be held on October 20.

5.MFF goes Global with Embassy of the Netherlands, Germany’s Goethe Institut and the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCAA)  

With the MFF’s partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Goethe Institut (Germany) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Philippine fashion is going beyond borders. Its collaboration with the Netherlands celebrates its 65th anniversary of bilateral relationship with the Philippines.

The cultural event on October 27 will feature three designers each from the Philippines and the Netherlands and will serve as the first step to have some Filipino designers to get into the Amsterdam Fashion Week in 2017.  Tweety de Leon-Gonzales is said to launch her brand TDLG here and others like Anthony Ramirez, Cheetah Rivera, Renan Pacson, Randy Ortiz, JC Buendia, and Rhett Eala will be making an appearance.

6.Fashion meets Philanthropy through Better Future Foundation

To help raise support for the science of creating antibodies for childhood illnesses through Better Future Foundation, the Manila Fashion Festival shows support by turning the catwalk into an avenue to raise awareness on current social issues.
