Share on Facebook Share on Twitter September, that is the unofficial month when Apple hosts its annual unnamed event. The tech giant unveils their trademark products featuring the Apple Watch, iPads and most especially, the iPhone. This is an event that all sheeple wait for every year but before we discuss everything we know about the new iPhone, a short commentary if I may. I’m not one to hate, I mean I do have two iPhones but is there really any point now? Last year’s releases fell flat as Apple did nothing new in terms of innovation and honestly at this point, the wow factor is basically nonexistent. And as a result, most developers, industry professionals and press don’t look forward to the once-popular and revered keynote speeches that announce the new entry in the iPhone series. Let’s hope this year is different. Apple hasn’t released any statement yet and is being very tight-lipped about the next iPhone. But that hasn’t stopped us from going above and beyond to get you everything we know so far about the new iPhone, so don’t say we don’t go to great lengths to get you guys the scoop. 2019 OLED iPhone Case Renders Mirror Leaked Design https://t.co/5NZlLEdYWZ by @waxeditorial pic.twitter.com/IyM5MT0bNF — MacRumors.com (@MacRumors) May 9, 2019 The New iPhone, What We Know So Far The Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is a multi-day event which focuses on developers an assisting them in fully utilizing the latest Apple products. It usually has a keynote (aren’t these getting old), that most often than not, announce new products. Usually, these are new software (iOS and macOS), and maybe a few hardware products namely the Mac and the iMacs. This event takes place from on 3rd till the 7th and is taking place in the McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, California. Longest Battery Ever? So on May 10, Apple released a short video on YouTube titled ‘Up Late’ claiming that the iPhone XR has the longest battery life of any iPhone at 25hours. A claim tested and refuted by Which?. So make of that what you will. The New iPhone: Pricing In 2018, we had the release of the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max and the iPhone XR with prices of the XS coming in at $999. Yes, we all cried about the price and yes, we all waited in line to pay an arm and a leg for a phone most of us don’t even need. Side Note: is it safe to say that iPhones are good for not much else than to show one’s status? We can’t predict what the tech giant will do this year but after the outcry and a slight decrease in sales especially in Asia, Apple will want to keep its price at the same level or at most, a respectable increase. The New iPhone: Design and Specs According to Macrumors, there will be a 5.8 and 6.5-inch OLED on the XR and XS iPhones along with a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. The new iPhones are likely to get upgraded A13 chips from Apple’s chip supplier, TSMC and the upgrades will no doubt help improve performance. In addition to the upgraded chips, Apple will want to do one better than last year’s glass display so maybe a new glass to distinguish this year’s iteration from lasts’. A possible switch from the current Gorilla Glass to Sapphire Glass currently being used on their Apple Watch could be on the cards, according to Macworld. WSJ: High-end #iPhoneXI (Max) will feature triple camera system. XS successor will remain with two, XR successor also with dual camera. pic.twitter.com/oSrGAXyVv5 — Ben Geskin (@BenGeskin) January 11, 2019 Oh not to mention the possibility of new colours, ever since the iPhone 7, Apple has been consistent in releasing new colours every year and the hope is that this year won’t be any different. The New Camera: End of the DSLR? But what about the camera? Well if all the supposed leaks are to be believed, emphasis on supposed, the new iPhone is going to be equipped with a rear camera containing three lenses. Yep, you might as well throw out your DSLR now. iPhone users are probably the most demanding set of fanbase out there and it wouldn’t be a surprise if this actually comes to fruition. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t look ugly in reality. The lack of concrete news has made the internet has run amok with theories on what the new iPhone cameras would look and function like. My favourite is that the introduction of a three-lens camera will render the DSLR extinct. Good luck with that folks. What We Really Want If the rumour mill and the leaks are to be believed, then this year’s iPhone or iPhones, depending on how many Apple release, are going to quite extraordinary. From larger batteries to fast charging, improved face ID and others, I for one do hope Apple listens to their sheeple and give them what they really want. Universal charging is a must. Apple is the only smartphone device on the market right now that doesn’t allow for bilateral charging between devices. This is something consumers have been clamouring for and it has to change down the line surely. Bring back fingerprint? This is a dicey one, some will say the use of Face ID is safer and more convenient but is it really? People change their appearance daily and as we’ve found out, there are really creative ways out there to bypass the Face ID security system so I say bring back the fingerprint. Not only was it convenient, but it was also actually safer. So there it is, everything you need to know about the new iPhone. I must emphasize that as of now, everything mentioned is hearsay and you should take with a pinch of salt until the new iPhone is released. But hey, don’t let me stop you from geeking out and going all cray-cray over spending a potential $1000 plus or more on a phone, like there aren’t better things to do with money. Watch this space for more news, leaks and rumours and release details on the new iPhone. Facebook Comments
